Day 4- August 15, 2014 Planning Live ABN Brief lecture with Ethan on the process. (btw Ethan is quite an effective trainer.) ABN live was QCd by Ms. C. though Jhoana, unaware that the paper was already QCd, tried to QC the paper. She is supposed to make some revisions, and actually pointed some errors on the paper that Ms. C. has revised, until she was informed by Jen that the paper (ABN_2014-08-18) was already done. Then she refrained and stick to what Ms. C. did. It seems to me that the role of the page planning QC is being neglected because of the ideals of Ms.C.

Day 9 August 22, 2014
Planning live ABN_2014-08-25 Planning and finalising of NOH_2014-08-28 paper. INCIDENT REPORT: Girls of Sun Times page planners are crooning the Skype issue with my presence. The boys group made Ms. C. a little irritated over having a break with work still on-going. Nb. I was the only one left on the floor at that time.
PROCESS REPORT:
The QC and other senior employees of page planning are actually concerned about the progress of the trainees. Though this is only visible in the mens group. This Idea of mentoring is a little invisible to the girls. The planner should or by his own, ask for the QC (Dennish and Jhoana) for what scheduled, daily plans are up for the day. Though Ms. C. has assigned start-up persons and revise person to tend specific papers. After the planner finishes the ad stack, it will be sent out for the QC to check with the Run Sheet and Percentage of the paper designed. Most of the times, the QC is able to do his job of checking. But sometimes, Ms. C. is practically, doing it or re-doing it again for different purposes and reasons. (mostly of teaching and reminding the planners of the dos and dontss and one instance, she mentioned of protecting her name in the field. Which I presume she was referring to making all things perfect and beautiful.) Idle time is really long. With 4-5 hours of vacancy.
Training Process:
The training process started with a demonstration of work by Jen, while I watch her do the job. My first trial of ad stacking started afterwards. (with jen and jhoanas supervision). Then, meeting Ms. C via Skype: Brief lecture and reminders from her, techniques and dos and donts were shown by demonstrating it herself. All succeeding training and improvements are reflected on the continuous regular and real-time productions.
Notes to training and production:
1. It might be more effective if there is/are people who will take charge on training new-hires. 2. Quality and intensive classroom sessions and discussions will definitely improve everybodys knowledge on the field of work. 3. Cheatsheet is one thing to help everybody follow the different specifications for every paper, but a more comprehensive and general list of guidelines will be very helpful in production and error reduction. (e.g. List of appropriate and inappropriate Design Style, applicable fillers for each papers and page sets. 4. Leadership inside the group needs to be more visible and effective. (TLs and QCs)
