This product is intended for use only on data circuits with operating voltages not to exceed 12VDC and DC power circuits with operating voltages not to exceed 48VDC and operating currents not to exceed 10A. 2. Mounting the ALPU-BSA (See Diagram): Mount the device as close to the equipment to be protected as possible using the provided hardware and the concealed mounting holes. Mount the unit in the orientation shown. 3. Wiring the ALPU-BSA 3.1 The ALPU-BSA surge suppressor is bidirectional and may be wired in either orientation. 3.2 Removing the Cover: Remove the 4 cover screws using a Phillips screwdriver and lift off the cover. 3.3 Wiring the CAT-5 Data Section: Thread a multiconductor cable from the data source through one of the strain reliefs on the side of the unit. Strip back the cable jacket as needed, crimp on RJ J acks and plugs into J ack on circuit board. (Do not ove torque!!). Repeat this procedure for the outgoing multiconductor cable running to the equipment to be protected. 3.4 Wiring the Coax 36VDC Section Thread a coax cable from the power source through one of the strain reliefs on the bottom of the unit. Strip back the cable jacket and insulator as needed and terminate the cable with a male F connector. Install the terminated cable into the corresponding female F connector. Tighten the strain relief onto the cable. Repeat this procedure for the outgoing coax cable running to the equipment to be protected. 3.5 Reinstall the cover. 3.6 Grounding: Connect the external ground lug on the enclosure to a solid Earth ground. The unit must be grounded for the suppressor to operate properly! 800.882.9110 or 208.772.8515 Note: It is recommended that weatherproof tape be installed around each cable entrance and around the seam between the enclosure and the cover for added protection against violent rainstorms.
