GIGO

Introduction:
1 The thought life is one of the great battlegrounds of the Christian life. Tim LaHaye, several
years ago wrote a book entitled "The Battle For Your Mind." There is a battle that is going on for
our mind (thought life). Satan knows that if he can win this battle, he will most likely win the
war in our life.
2 The average brain weights about three pounds and contain 12 billion cells, each which
connected to 10,000 other brain cells, totally 120 trillion brain connections.
3 One scientist said, "The human brain is the most complex arrangement of matter in the
universe."
4 Scientists inform us that the average person uses only 10 percent of their minds capabilities
during their entire lifetime. Most people will die with 10 to 11 million brain cells still unused.
Illustration:
1 What the mind attends to, it considers;
2 What the minds does not attend it to, it dismisses.
3 What the mind attends to continually, it believes.
4 What the mind believes, it eventually does.
Simply put, whatever we think about is what we become and do.
1 It is as Solomon said in (Proverbs 23:7), "For as he thinketh in his heart, so is he."
As an anonymous author wrote:
1 Sow a thought,
2 Reap and act;
3 Sow an act,
4 Reap a habit;
5 Sow a habit,
6 Reap a character;
7 Sow a character,
8 Reap a destiny!
2 Cor 10:4-5
4(For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down
of strong holds;)
5 Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge
of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ;

Garbage In, Garbage Out
1 In early years, the computer programmers developed the phrase Garbage in, garbage out
(GIGO). Meaning whatever you program into the computer is what youre going to get
out. (Our minds work according to the GIGO principle).
2 Our minds work like computers where we are able to store unbelievable amounts of
information.
3 I once heard someone say that theres a simple principle that says when you put garbage into
your mind, garbage will come out.
Texts:
Matt 4:4
4 But he answered and said, I t is written, Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word
that proceedeth out of the mouth of God.
KJ V
1 When you put good things into your mind and life, then good things will flow out. (The
Bibles says that out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaketh).
2 It is common knowledge that computers cannot output something that it was not
programmed to do. So, what goes in is what comes out. Same is true with our minds.
Garbage In, Garbage Out!
1 What are you programing into your mind?
2 What do you watch, what do your read, what do you listen to? (What you watch, what you
read, and what you listen to will affect the way we talk, feel and live).
3 Our minds are a powerful source of positive energy.
4 (Romans 12:2), Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the
renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what Gods will is his good,
pleasing and perfect will, we can begin to think these thoughts of our Lord and live with peace
from above.
5 Lets not waste our life with less than what God has to offer.
6 Our prayer should be (Ps.19:14) that says, May the words of my mouth and the meditation
of my heart be pleasing to you, O Lord, my rock and my redeemer.
Feed your mind with truth:
1 "People need more than bread for life; they must feed on every word of God." (Matthew
4:4).
Free your mind from destructive thoughts:
1 (Romans 8:5) "Those who are dominated by their sinful nature think about sinful things, but
those who are controlled by the Holy Spirit think about things that please the Spirit."
Focus your mind on the right things:
Phil 4:7-8
7 And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds
through Christ J esus.
8 Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever
things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things
are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things.

Fill Up on Soul Food:
1 (Matthew 4:4) Man shall not live on bread alone, but on every word that comes from the
mouth of God.
2 Gods Word is as necessary to your soul as food is to your body. If you dont get into the
Bible, youre going to start feeling weak.
3 If the only spiritual input you get in your life is the weekend message, then youre having a
banquet once a week and fasting the rest of the week. No wonder youre weak and groggy and
cranky!
4 Whatever you put into your body and your mind is whats going to come out. The computer
experts call that GIGO garbage in, garbage out.
5 If you put garbage in your mind and theres plenty of it out there thats whats going
to come out in your life. If you put soul food in your mind, thats whats going to come out.
6 Do you believe everything you watch on television or hear on talk radio? Do you believe
everything you read in the newspaper and magazines? Do you believe everything you read in the
Bible? So why do we spend more time listening to and reading what we dont believe?
7 Did you know that the average New York Times weekend edition has more words in it
than the entire New Testament? Yet, I know people who sit down with the New York Times
on Sunday morning and read it cover to cover, but theyve never read through the New
Testament.
What are the results of filling your mind with the Word of God?
1 Jesus said, If you abide in My Word, you are My disciples indeed. And you shall know the
truth, and the truth shall make you free (John 8:31-32).
2 If you abide in Gods Word, you will experience freedom in your heart and Heaven for
eternity. And, you will prove to the world that you are a disciple of Jesus Christ.
