Builders/Home Owners Please Note
W hen you are installing w indow s and doors there are som e precautions
you should take to ensure that the products w ill retain their ex-factory
condition until installation is com plete and the job handed over.
W ideline products usually arrive on the site in a fully nished condition.
H ow ever, they can be dam aged through careless handling, and are
particularly vulnerable w hen being installed in brick or concrete block
construction.
Remember
Keep w et cem ent, m ortar and brick-cleaning acid from contact w ith
tim ber or alum inium (particularly if the nish is anodised), before,
during and after installation.
If accidentally splashed, w ash off im m ediately w ith clean w ater
otherw ise perm anent staining or dam age m ay occur.
D o not use acid to rem ove m ortar stains on w indow fram es.
H ose dow n brickw ork to rem ove residual cleaning acid that m ay leach
out and cause dam age to the nish later.
D o not place w indow s directly onto green concrete slabs.
Keep the tracks of sliding w indow s and doors clear of sand and cem ent
droppings.
D o not use w indow or door fram es to support planks or tem porary
scaffolding.
C lean up w hen the job is com plete w ith m ild detergent and rinse w ith
clean w ater.
AluminiumProducts
A good general rule is that alum inium should be w ashed to rem ove dirt
deposits as often as it is necessary to w ash w indow s.
A lum inium requires only m inim um m aintenance but, like your m otor car,
the nish m ay deteriorate if dirt, w hich collects on the surface, is allow ed
to rem ain unw ashed over a period of tim e. This is because dirt absorbs
m oisture present in the atm osphere. M oisture can contain salt near the
ocean or other im purities in industrial areas, and it is the com bination of
dirt and contam inated m oisture that can cause deterioration of alm ost
any surface nish.
In rural areas w here norm ally there is very little contam inated m oisture,
you m ay not need to clean your alum inium ttings m ore than every six
m onths. In industrial and coastal areas, w ashing at intervals of one to three
m onths m ay be required or even m ore frequently in locations close
to the ocean or in heavily polluted industrial areas, especially w here the
w indow s or other product is sheltered from the w ashing effects of the rain.
To clean alum inium , use the m ildest treatm ent you can w hich produces
satisfactory results. Start w ith w arm w ater, w ith soap or detergent. O n
anodised m aterial try solvent cleaners (eg: kerosene, turpentine, w hite
spirit), or non-etching chem ical cleaners, or a w ax-based polish cleaner.
N ever use harsh liquid chem icals, abrasive cleaners or steel w ool.
Glass
To clean clear oat glass, w ipe over the surface w ith a few drops of
m ethylated spirits on a dam p cloth, and then polish the surface dry w ith
a lint free cloth. Proprietary glass cleaners are not recom m ended as som e
of them can cause dam age to the silver backing on m irrors and the interlay
of lam inated glass. Ensure that all cleaning cloths are free of any abrasive
substances.
A void causing extrem e tem perature changes as this m ay lead to therm al
fracture of the glass (i.e. do not direct hot or cold w ater onto glass).
General I nformation
1
Wideline are a founding member of the Australian Window Association (AWA) and as part of that
membership are required to supply products that have been tested to meet Australian Standards AS 2047
(windows in buildings) and AS 1288 (glass in buildings). This testing has been conducted by third party NATA
approved certifiers and our products are constantly audited by the AWA to ensure compliance.Varying
structural and water carrying capacities as stipulated in AS 2047 can be achieved by our range of products
depending on site requirements.
The inclusion of energy requirements of building materials in the Australian Building Code is a growing project
that has encompassed the window industry.Wideline in reaction to this market trend have had our windows
energy rated through the AWA run Window Energy Rating Scheme (WERS).Varying glazing options from clear
float glass through to high performance double glazing products have been tested to give a spectrum of results
and energy efficiencies.
Acoustics is another area where Wideline have been highly focused. Councils and building designers are
becoming increasingly demanding with the acoustic requirements that windows and doors have to perform in
the building envelope.Wideline have had CSIRO testing completed on a range of products to give accurate
performance levels as required. It is a common misconception that double glazing is the solution for acoustic
attenuation. We have found through testing that monolithic (single layer or laminated) glass can perform to
equivalent levels at a reduced cost.
Please keep in mind that windows and doors are delivered in a finished state and therefore it is important to
protect the windows and doors as paint work, hardware and glass can be damaged during construction.
Optional extras available include:

Wideline Protec,Widelines own brand of plastic wrap is available for all windows and doors. It is
recommended that the plastic wrap is removed during brick cleaning or at the completion of rendering as
prolonged adhesion to the glass can leave a sticky residue.

Insect and safety screensare available for our product range (apart from the bi-fold door which cannot
be screened).Various mesh types available fibreglass standard, aluminium, stainless steel and one way
privacy mesh.

Key locksare available for all windows and doors. These locks can also be keyed alike.

Various hardware finishesfor all products are available. There are a number of colours other than black,
which can be colour matched to your desired products. Entry, bi-fold and sliding door handles are also
available in various finishes such as satin chrome.

Range of glass optionsthat cover security, safety, energy, acoustic and aesthetic requirements are available.

Wide range of coloursis offered which includes twelve standard colours alongwith twelve secondary colours.

Various sill capacitiesare available with all products being available in the standard 150 Pascal water
carrying capacity sill along with a 300 Pascal sill for those areas exposed to high wind and water pressure.

Semi-commercial aluminium entry frame material can surround all products within our range.
Standard size windows will have an additional 74mm added to the overall window size. For example, an
AS1416 inserted into our entry frame will have an overall size of 1444 (h) x 1644 (w).
