Quick Start Guide

Standard ABB Drive on


DeviceNet/IP (RDNA-01)
with 1769-SDN DeviceNet Scanner
Overview
Description:
This document contains an overview on how to add the
ABB Drive (RDNA-01) that is programmed to four input
words and four output words to the DeviceNet Scan List
with RSNetWorx for DeviceNet. The document will assist
in remapping the 16 bit words to 32 bit words.

2. Right Click on the 1769-SDN Scanner Module
and select properties.

1. Go online and scan the DeviceNet network that needs
to be confgured. The following quick start will setup
the drive to send four words and receive four words
of information.
3. The following screen will open. Click the Module tab.
Select upload the confguration for the scanner.
4. Make sure the following information below is correct.
The slot the 1769-SDN
is installed
The PLC used is a
CompactLogix
5. Click the Scanlist tab.
This window displays
all devices in the
DeviceNet Scan List
This window displays
all devices available
to be added to the
DeviceNet Scanner
6. Select a device from the available device list and click
the button. This will move the selected device into
the scan list.
7. Select a device under the Scan List.
Click Edit I/O Parameters.
Electronic Keying
is active by default.

Electronic Keying
has been disabled
for this example.
8. The default I/O size is 4 bytes (2 words). This setting
informs the DeviceNet scanner to the amount of data
that will be sent and received. Click OK.
Change the Input Size
to 8 bytes (4 words)
Change the Output Size
to 8 bytes (4 words)
9. Select Yes from the scanner confguration pop-up messages.
10. Click the Input tab. Click the Advanced button.
The 1769-SDN DeviceNet scanner operates on 32 bit words.
The RDNA-01 operates on 16 bit words.
The automap function created 2 words that are 32 bits long.
The next steps will remap the 2 words into 4 - 32 bit words.
Then click Apply Mapping.
11. Select Map 1.
Change DWord to 0.
Change Bit Length to 16
12. Select Map 2.
Then click Apply Mapping.
Change Message to Polled.
Change DWord to 1
Change Bit Length to 16
Change Byte to 2
Then click Apply Mapping.
Then click Apply Mapping.
13. Select Map 3.
Change Message to Polled.
Change DWord to 2
Change Bit Length to 16 Change Byte to 4
14. Select Map 4.
Change DWord to 3
Change Message to Polled.
Change Byte to 6
Change Bit Length to 16
16. The Input memory is mapped into four 32 bit words.
The ABB drive will only use the frst 16 of the 32 bits.
17. Click the Output tab. Repeat steps 10-15 for
Output tab.
19. Click Apply. Make sure the PLC is in Program Mode.
Then Click Yes.
18. The Output memory is mapped into four 32 bit words.
The ABB drive will only use frst 16 of the 32 bits.
15. Select Close.
