Developing leaders

1. Introduction
The concept of leadership can be analyzed from three different points of view. First, the slope
of the intrinsic qualities that a leader should have, that is, what it should be. Furthermore, the
leader is not an isolated entity, but carries out its mission within a group or organization.
Finally, leadership is exercised in a wider social context.
The leader has to be born to be a leader, metaphor always applied when the concept of
leadership is mentioned, along the time is acquiring knowledge and experience to make good
decisions and learn from wrong.

2. Functions of leaders
Established the various needs that the groups have in the individual and team levels, we can
determine the following functions that a leader must meet to satisfy:
Planning
Without planning there would be no basis for what we want to achieve, is very important
because this function cannot go without a guide star.
Introducing:
Drenched people about which is intended to handle the same language, set time schedules
chords and functions to handle all the same standard.
Control:
Constant monitoring on the allocation of areas to keep the target that is the reason of your
fight.


Help:
Motivate actions in order to have at the same time well-disciplined team, and everyone feel
involved, because the leader always is giving his team all the support, both labor and human.
Report:
Maintain fluid and two-way communication, to mention the smallest detail, sometimes the
suggestions that come from below are the most important and can lead to a big project.
Rate:
Finally the assessment is no more than treat the performance and fulfillment of goals and
possible solutions if are not complied with properly.

3. Level of leaders
There are three layers of Leadership at the functional level:
Strategic Leader: is the leader of the organization as a whole, which has a set of operational
leaders under his personal direction. This is the one that has a wider and appropriate
knowledge to identify strategies and then direct the operational leaders.
Operating Leader: is the leader of some particular area of an organization; has under its
supervision other leaders, this becomes him in a leader of leaders. Has its limits and is more
specialized so their subordinates leaders have to get into a good coordination.
Team Leader: This is the leader of a group of 10 to 20 people, and whose mission is to meet
clearly specified tasks. More enthusiastic than the others, he is the motivator for people to
perform their duties in good manner and with integrity.
At the strategic leader is assigned the following seven functions:
* Directing the organization from a global view.
* Developing a strategy and defined policies.
* Enforcing the strategy and policies (executive responsibility).
* Organization or reorganization (balance between the whole and its parts).
* Veiling for the spirit of the corporation.
* Relate the organization with other organizations and society as a whole.
* Choose the leaders of today and develop or train the leaders of tomorrow.


4. The seven principles for develop leaders.
These principles are assumptions universally accepted as true:
Principle I:
The first principle dictates that leaders should receive adequate training and training for
functions that have to play. In many organizations acting precipitously and there is no proper
planning for the development of the qualities required by authentic leadership.
This principle is fundamental and should have all the knowledge and all the different positions
in the organization.
Principle II:
(Selection of leaders)
The four ways in which members of an organization become leader:
* Emerging
* Designation
* Election
* Hereditary
To choose the most appropriate person among several for a leadership vacancy you must
follow basic recommendations, time, help achieve goals, professional knowledge, values
launched, additional features people who have received from their team.

Principle III:
The mentor as teacher leaders
People can learn to become leaders under the guidance of a lead teacher. Teacher / student
relationship is much more fruitful than mere attendance at a Leadership course or routine
reading a manual on the subject. Often when they learn well from a leader, this will replace
him in the future and in a good way, the Disciple often surpass the master.

Principle IV:
Provide opportunities to lead
It is important that organizations form and make grow their leaders. But even more important
is to give team members the opportunity to lead. Apply empowerment is essential for leaders

Principle V:
Leadership Education is more than teaching running businesses
The management is simply the management of a company, or an area thereof; but when it

Principle VI:
A strategy for the development of Leadership
The strategy always involves extensive term (long term), also the importance of the role of a
strategic leader is thinking and looking forward, making sure the organization knows where it
is heading and having that multicomponent often necessary.

Principle VII:
The Executive Director as a training vehicle
In every organization concerned with the training of leaders is the Executive Director who
occupies the role of strategic leader-who should lead the process of formation. We can say
that there are no bad strategic leaders, but harmful Leadership teachers. Important is to
determine the functions of leadership as the selection and development of leaders of today
and tomorrow. Strategic leaders should deeply know the operational and team leaders. In
short, the strategic leader is paid to lead, not to talk about Leadership
In general the above exposed not only shows what a leader and their characteristics but also
how to select from many potential leaders, and provide you with excellent training from
another good leader, just an organization cannot be given afford not to train their people, the
daily demands change, the environment changes frequently how to operate certain company,
but only those that have true leaders will come forward with good results.
