Avaya Demystified

Q: The following question comes from our good friend John at Western niversity:
! am trying to set u" the #risis Alert feature after talking about it in your Advanced Definity
Administration class$ ! have the feature %Every User Responds?% set to %y% in the #risis Alert &ystem
'arameters screen$ !(m using )** to test with so ! have )** calls set to #all Ty"e %alrt% in A+&
Analysis$ And finally, ! have a button on my "hone "rogrammed as %crss-alert%$ !(ve tried calling -.
)** from both digital and !' "hones, but !(m not getting alerted$ Any idea what ! am missing/
A: This was a good one since the #risis Alert feature is usually "retty straightforward to "rogram$ !t
looked to me like you had everything "rogrammed correctly, and we verified by setting u" the same
"rogramming on two different systems here to make sure it wasn(t a software.version issue$ !t worked
every time when we made test calls$ Then one morning on the way to work, ! remembered that some
time ago we had talked about setting u" location based A+& routing because of your new location in
0regon$ When a call is made, the system will first look to see if there is a match in that "hone(s
location.based A+& Analysis form$ !f there is no match there, it will look at the %Location: All% A+&
table$ ! dialed in to verify my sus"icions$ &ure enough, in your %ARS Analysis location 1% table, %)**%
calls were set for #all Ty"e %svcl%$ 1ou can either change the #all Ty"e to %alrt% there, or remove the
%)**% Dialed &tring from %Location 1% so the call would look at the %Location: All% table$
Thanks for the question John$
Q: ! was asked to buy a cou"le e2tra #om"act 3lash cards so we could kee" a backu" of our &4567
off.site$ The ones that came with the system look like a regular #om"act 3lash card, but the
documentation mentions that they are %!ndustrial 8rade%$ !n doing some research, it looks like the
!ndustrial 8rade cards are quite a bit more e2"ensive than the normal cards$ Do they really need to be
%!ndustrial 8rade%/
A: The short answer is no$ ! have tried a number of different #om"act 3lash cards in the *94M: to
9;<M: range, and they all worked =ust fine$ The %!ndustrial 8rade% cards go through more rigorous
testing, and might last a little longer with re"eated use$ >owever, the normal cards should work =ust
fine for the use you mentioned$ There is a %3ormat #ard% link in the maintenance Web interface that
should be used before attem"ting to use the new cards for the first time$
And as always, if questions "lease call 477.);9.<)55$
