Sir/Madam,
I am writing to explore a possibility of securing the position of associate consultant at Bain &
Company.
For any ambitious graduate, management consulting has a natural appeal because it offers
fast growth, extra-ordinary peers and an exposure to a variety of industries. I wish to start
my career in consulting because it can provide me with the twin challenges that I seek in my
work to solve complex problems by exercising my analytical abilities and to come up with
innovative, out of the box solutions. Consulting also aligns with my long term goal (10-12
years) of assuming a leading role in a central industry such as technology, energy or
infrastructure, through the diverse functional exposure (operations, sales, strategy etc.) that
it offers.
Amidst aggressive pre-placement talks, its easy to get lost in the plethora of consulting
firms. However, the distinctive focus on client success and results, makes Bain & Company
stand out. During your recent visit on campus, I learnt about the rapid growth of Bain India.
Such a growth environment would be extremely conducive for learning and personal growth.
During the visit, I also got an opportunity to interact with two Bain consultants Rohithari
and Deepak, which helped me learn more about the work culture at Bain and reaffirmed my
belief that it is a place where a young graduate like me could thrive. Additionally, initiatives
such as Bindaas@Bain and Bain Prayas demonstrate a high level of commitment towards
its employees. All this, backed by the hard fact of being consistently ranked as the best
consulting firm to work for, makes Bain & Company an obvious choice.
Being ambitious at heart, I like to set challenging goals and subsequently push myself to
achieve them. My belief in hard work and diligence has placed me in the top five of the batch,
across all departments. Numerous curricular and other group activities have not only
instilled a spirit of teamwork but also helped me build strong relationships for the future.
The international exposure through my internships has given me an international outlook
with respect to cultures and languages. I believe that through the energy and skill set that I
possess, I would be able to make strong contributions and prove to be an asset for your
organisation.
