QUICK START GUIDE CHECKLIST
Quick Start Guide Checklist
The following checklist is intended for customers who requested Secure Shipment at order-submission time, and need to follow a formal tracking pro-
cedure for Common Criteria (or other standard) compliance. If you didnt request, or werent expecting, such a procedure, just skip to the next page.

SafeNet Luna products that are taken out of service should not be discarded with ordi-
nary waste. Follow the WEEE or other directives that apply in your country.

Do you have a confirmed order for a Luna XML? If you do not have an individual
order for Luna XML, skip to item 8. If yes, proceed to next step.

Do the items received match those ordered (see Content Sheet enclosed with prod-
uct)? If no, skip to step 11. If yes, proceed to next step.

Did you receive a notification, in advance of receipt, providing details on the product
shipped and the tamper evident bag serial numbers? If no, skip to step 11. If yes,
proceed to next step.

Do the tamper evident bag serial numbers that you received in advance of the ship-
ment match the serial numbers on the bags that you have received? If no, skip to step
11. If yes, proceed to next step.

Do the details (individual items, serial numbers, etc.) match those in the packing list
with the shipment? If no, skip to step 11. If yes, proceed to next step.

Do the serial numbers on the individual product items match those in the packing
list? If no, skip to step 11. If yes, proceed to next step.

Are there any signs of physical tampering? There are T.R.A.C. seal tamper evident
labels on the Luna XML chassis. Have any of these labels been damaged? Have the
tamper evident bags been damaged in any way? If yes, skip to step 11. If no, pro-
ceed to step 12.

Is this installation being performed by a third party (e.g., a CA Source Provider, Sys-
tem Integrator)? If no, skip to step 11.

Has the installing agency provided confirmation of the legitimacy and integrity of the
products? If no, skip to step 10.

Contact your installing agency.

Contact your SafeNet Sales representative or SafeNet Sales (800) 533-3958.

Once the received items have been verified, the installation can proceed.

*A Luna PED and PED Keys are necessary to operate the Luna XML with PED Authentication. PED Keys are not auto-
matically part of a Luna XML shipment - you must order the appropriate number at the time of ordering the Luna XML, to
have everything together when you need it.

Quick Start Guide Installation

Install brackets if appropriate for your equip-
ment rack.
The brackets can be installed in different orien-
tations and combinations to fit various rack con-
figurations.

Mount the appliance in your equipment rack.

Insert the power (a) and network (b) cables at
the rear panel.

Connect the Luna PED at the front panel, using
the provided PED cable.

Set power switch, on the rear panel near the
power cable connector, to the on position.

Connect a terminal to the serial connector on the
front panel.

Insert the Resource CD(*) into the computer
that you will be using to administer/configure
the Luna XML system.

Click START_HERE.htm to invoke your
browser.

To open the instructions for the beginning
configuration of your Luna XML appliance,
click the link for Luna XML x.x Help Sys-
tem.
If you are using Internet Explorer, be sure to
Allow Blocked Content - Luna XML Help uses
navigation and other features that might be
blocked.

You must set up the network parameters (so
that the appliance can work with your local
network) and initialize the HSM (to establish
ownership and prepare it for your applica-
tions).
This is done at the command line. See next
step.

Connect your computer to the appliance front
panel via serial cable.
Open a terminal session (115200 rate, No par-
ity, 8-bit words, 1 stop)
login as admin (default password
safenet).
Type a question mark ? to see the top-level
menu.
Follow the instructions in the Help (previous
step, above)
