Library management system

The project called Distributed Library Management System. As the project name
goes it totally concerned with the management of book. The main main feature of the
project is that it is Distributed i.e. the Database lies on the server and all clients machines
can access that database. It is multiple user system. There are five types of users:
Administrator, Staff, Student, Teacher and User. The Administrator user has all the rights of
the System. The Staff user has only the rights of Staff. Similarly the other users have their
appropriate rights.
The user could anyone who wishes to know about the book in the Library. This project
stores the general information and the information about book issuing and returning.
System analysis is a detailed study of the various operations performed by a system.
It is the reduction of an entire system by studying the various operations performed and
their relationships within the system.
SYSTEM ANALYSIS
EXISTING SYSTEM:
System Analysis is a detailed study of the various operations performed by a system
and their relationships within and outside of the system. Here the key question is- what
all problems exist in the present system? What must be done to solve the problem?
Analysis begins when a user or manager begins a study of the program using existing
system.
During analysis, data collect. on the various files, decision points and transactions
handl. by the present system. The commonly us. tools in the system are Data Flow
Diagram, interviews, etc. Training, experience and common sense are requir. for
collection of relevant information need. to develop the system. The success of the
system depends largely on how clearly the problem is defin., thorough, investigat. and
properly carried o. through the choice of sol.ion. A good analysis model should provide
not only the mechanisms of problem understanding but also the frame work of the
solution. Thus it should be studied thoroughly by collecting data about the system. Then
the propos. system should be analyzed thoroughly in accordance with the ne.s.
System analysis can be categorized into four parts.
V System planning and initial investigation
V Information Gathering
V Applying analysis tools for structur. analysis
V Feasibility study
V Cos, Benefit analysis.
In our existing system all the transaction of books are done manually, So taking more
time for a transaction like borrowing a book or returning a book and also for searching of
members and books. Another major disadvantage is that to preparing the list of books
borrowed and the available books in the library will take more time, currently it is doing as a
one day process for verifying all records. So after conducting the feasibility study we
decided to make the manual Library management system to be computerized.
2.2 PROPOSED SYSTEM

1) Information about the total no. of books present in the Library.
2) The report of general information about Student, Staff and Teacher.
3) The class wise and also year wise report of issuing and returning the
book for student.
4) The year wise report of issuing and returning the book for teaching and
nonteaching staff.
5) Facility for saving report.
6) Also the facility for the web browser.

Scope Of The proposed System
Accuracy, Efficiency, Speedy.
Easy modification and fast retrieving capacity.
User friendly and easy to update.
Updating and finding various records fast.
Preparing many types of reports quickly.
Provide not duplication of book code.
Faster access to user.
Provide validations in order to avoid errors.
Keeps database in one system and run the application on another computer when all
computers are in network.
