The document outlines the rules and problem statements for the Electrothon event. It includes 3 levels of challenges - beginner, intermediate, and advanced. The beginner level involves designing circuits with LED patterns or an autonomous light-following robot. The intermediate level problems include creating a password-protected digital lock or microcontroller-based calculations. The advanced level involves designing an autonomous fire detection and alert system or microcontroller-based mini computer. Teams of up to 4 members can participate and extra points will be awarded to inter-batch teams. Judging will be based on criteria such as effectiveness, user interface, innovation, and implementation of extra features.

Rules and Regulations Teams of maximum 4 members are allowed. Micro-controllers can be used only in those events in which they are specified. Extra points will be awarded to inter-batch team. Decision of the coordinators and judges would be binding on all the participants.
PROBLEM STATEMENTS: BEGINNER LEVEL: (1) Pattern Matrix: Design a circuit of at-least 5 LEDs which blink sequentially. Also the roulette must have the ability to stop & resume which can be controlled by a switch. Various additional features can be added like: Varying the speed of the roulette. Reversal in the direction of roulette after one revolution. A train of 2 LEDs revolving, instead of one.
These are just guidelines. Of course, you're welcome to come up with your own, even wackier feature if you can (with a little thought on how you're going to go about it). Remember, innovation is the key here - the "fresher" the idea, the better (pun intended).

(2) Light Detecting Bot: Introduction Dr. Jack Dawkins wants to design a robot able to follow an illuminated path that leads to a mysterious cave in the forests of Sikara where an important element lies for his research. It would be better if the robot reaches there in minimum time because he is not the only one behind it. Design an autonomous light follower robot (without using microcontroller) that will follow a particular path and reach destination in minimum time.
Event Structure Team has to come up with a light follower robot. The path of the robot will consist of various obstacles to hinder the robot's movement along the path. Any collision with an obstacle will be penalized. The task will be completed if the robot reaches the destination. Team with the minimum completion time wins the race.

INTERMEDIATE LEVEL:
(1) Digi Code Lock:
Introduction Patrick Augustus has come across an ancient script guaranteed to have in it the path to hidden treasures of Emperor Marcus Aurelius. However, he is not the only one to know about it. Many people are after it and to protect it from lying in others hands he plans to hide it in his Secret Trove with a Digi Lock. Design a two tier security system that requires a password and an infrared key to open the lock.
Event Structure The user will have to connect his mobile phone to the system and enter the single digit password to open the lock. The entry of correct password should be indicated by a distinguished output. Then the user is required to direct infrared beam at the detector that will trigger the circuit to show completion of successful entry of password (say sounding of a buzzer or a glowing set of LEDs).

ADVANCE LEVEL: (1) Auto Fire Module: Introduction The city of Barchester is facing a problem of fire incidents burning down buildings and homes as the Fire House of the city is not informed on time. The rate of disaster due to fire has increased significantly which has become a cause of the District Magistrates these days. He has announced a reward for anyone coming up with a solution for it. So, you have to design an autonomous fire module that should be able to detect fire and call for help.
Event Structure On detecting fire, the autonomous fire module will sound alarm and send a SOS message to the fire house of your city to call for help.

(2) Mini Comp: Introduction Jessica Taylor plans to revolutionize the world with her ideas. She has a big idea on her mind but Professor Harrington doesnt trust her potential. So, he challenges her to first design a mini computer able to perform simple mathematical calculations like addition, subtraction, multiplication and division and display them on screen. Event Structure You have to design a microcontroller based system that will take input from the keyboard, perform simple operations on the input and display output on a LCD screen. 1. 1. The total points Judging Criteria The Judging will be subjective. All basic compulsory features should be implemented and only after their evaluation would the extra features would be considered and assessed. The effectiveness of the hardware and software used in solving the problem statement. User interface of the device. Robustness and innovation in design of the device. Cost effectiveness of the device. Extra features implemented, may add much to your score. They should complement the original design. Points Break-Up would be informed at the time of call for abstracts. Judges would be faculty of Centre for Information and Communication Technology, IIT Jodhpur.
