2 Morphing objects using OmniCAD NX 902
Morphing objects using OmniCAD

You can morph objects in the NX CAD environment using the following integrated OmniCAD
commands.
OmniFree
Transformer
Use this command to morph objects using points and curves as constraints.
OmniMesh
Transformer
Use this command to morph objects using CAE Meshes, STL files, or point clouds.
Note
Siemens PLM Software recommends that you use an NX facet body
instead of a JT facet body.

OmniCopy
Transformer
Use this command to copy the parameters of the transformed objects and then
transform the objects by using the copied parameters.
Flow Blend
Use this command to create constant or variable blends along complex faces that
have small curvature. These blends are easy to manufacture and increase product
durability and aesthetic appeal.
OmniSwitch
Application
Use this command to export NX objects that you want to transform into the
OmniCAD software.
Save OCP
File
Use this command to export NX objects that you want to transform into the
selected OmniCAD part file and then save the selected OmniCAD part file.

Note
Make sure that the environment variable $OmniCAD_NX90_DIR is available in the
\ugii\menus\custom_dirs.dat file. If this environment variable is not available, copy the
\ugii\menus\custom_dirs.dat file to your local drive, add the environment variable
$OmniCAD_NX90_DIR to it, and then set the environment variable UGII_CUSTOM_DIRECTORY_FILE
to <local drive path>\custom_dirs.dat

OmniFree Transformer dialog box
Product Shape
Select Entity
Lets you select objects that you want to transform.
Fixed Curve
Select Curve
Lets you select the curves that do not change during
transformation.
Continuity Lets you specify continuity.
Add New Set
Lets you add a new set of fixed curves.
Transformation Curves
Select Start Curve
Lets you select the start curve for the
transformation.
Select End Curve
Lets you select the end curve for the transformation.
Continuity Lets you specify continuity.
Note
The continuity of all the objects that are
involved in the transformation retain the
continuity of the original objects.

Align Break Points
Aligns break points of the start curve with the end
curve.
Reverse Curve Direction
Reverses the direction of the transformation.
Reverse Tangent Direction
Available when Continuity is set to G1 or G2.
Reverses the tangent direction.
Add New Set
Lets you add a new set of transformation curves.
Transformation Points
Specify Start Point
Lets you select a start point for the transformation.
Specify End Point
Lets you select an end point for the transformation.
Free 2D
Free 2D
Transforms the objects in the X and Y directions
only. The Z direction remains unchanged.
To specify a plane, use the Specify Plane options.

Settings
Hide Original
Hides the previously selected objects.
Apply Original Attributes
Applies the same attributes of the original objects,
such as color, line, or font to the selected objects.
Step Sets the density of points along fixed and
transformation curves.
Distance Tolerance Sets the distance tolerance for the transformation.
Preview
Show Transform Vector
Displays the transformation points in the graphics
window. You can use the points to verify the
transformation path.

Select Entity
Lets you select objects that you want to transform.
Meshes
Meshes Topology
Aligned
The mesh elements are topologically the same.
Unaligned
The mesh elements are not topologically the same.
NX calculates the alignment of two mesh elements
and transforms the objects.
End Only (WLS)
The mesh elements are available only for the end
facet body. NX uses the WLS (White Light
Scanning) method to transform the objects.
Select Start Facet Body
Available when the Mesh Topology is set to
Aligned or Unaligned.
Lets you select the starting facet body.
Select End Facet Body
Lets you select the ending facet body.

Hide Original
Hides the previously selected objects.
Apply Original Attributes
Applies the attributes of the original objects, such as
color, line, font to the selected objects.
Continuity Lets you specify the continuity.
C2 (Curvature)
Transforms objects faster.
C4
Transforms objects more slowly than the C2
(Curvature) option but produces better
transformation quality.
Transformation Factor Lets you set the deformation value.
Smoothing Lets you specify smoothness for the transforming
objects.
Note
For class A models, set the Smoothing
list to either High or Very High.

Step Count Lets you specify the number of steps to use to
transform the objects. If you specify more steps, the
transformation results are more accurate.
Distance Tolerance Sets the distance tolerance for the transformation.
