ADVANCED TECHNOLOGY IN LUBRICATION SINCE 1933 702

Rot ar y Compr essor Oi l
SWEPCO
SWEPCO 702 Rotary
Compressor Oil is a high
performance, extended service
compressor oil especially
formulated to provide superior
performance under the most
demanding operating condi-
tions in rotary screw and rotary
vane compressors. Compres-
sor manufacturers agree:
sludge, varnish and carbon
deposits resulting from oxida-
tion of the oil is the number one
cause of compressor inefficien-
cies and failure. SWEPCO 702
is formulated to combat friction
and wear that result from high
temperatures, water, contaminants and
heavy loads...providing much longer
equipment and oil life. Lower operating
temperatures also extend seal life and
reduce oil leakage and consumption.
SWEPCO 702 is precisely formu-
lated from the very finest high VI paraf-
finic base stocks available and the
most advanced additive chemistry.
Inherently superior in resistance to heat
and oxidation SWEPCO's paraffin base
oils are enhanced by a highly effective
oxidation inhibitor, delivering protection
far above that found in ordinary com-
mercial compressor oils.
SWEPCO's Energy Savings
Program (ESP) has documented am-
perage reduction of more than 13% by
a switch to SWEPCO 702 with corre-
sponding reductions in electrical
operating costs and operating tempera-
tures.
Designed to give clean, efficient,
long-lasting performance to all rotary
compressors, including those operating
at extreme temperatures, SWEPCO
702's extended service intervals trans-
late into less waste oil disposal and
reduced maintenance costs.
Here are some of the benefits you
will achieve with SWEPCO 702 Rotary
Compressor Oil:
Greater equipment reliability & less
downtime
Reduced power usage
Reduced wear
Minimized carbon, varnish or sludge
formation
Lower operating temperatures
Excellent water separation and rust
control
Longer oil life
Lower maintenance and repair costs
Compatibility
Reduced waste oil costs
Rotary screw compressors (like the above) and rotary
vane compressors run longer and more economically
with energy efficient SWEPCO 702 Rotary Compressor

Feature Benefit
High VI Paraffinic Base Stock Gives you a more uniform viscosity over a wide temperature range
Helps improve high temperature oxidation and thermal stability
Better low temperature flow characteristics help reduce start-up wear
Extends service life
Oxidation Inhibitor Reduces oil thickening
Helps prevent sludge, varnish and carbon deposits that result from oxidation
Rust and Corrosion Inhibitor Builds a chemical bond with the surface to keep moisture and acids from penetrating and
attacking the surfaces. Rust inhibitor protects metal surfaces and seals from moisture.
Particularly effective during periods of shutdown, where cooling may cause condensation
Oiliness Additive Enables the oil to penetrate the surface for better lubrication
Anti-Foam Additive Can lower oil operating temperatures up to 25 degrees F. or more by dispersing the foam and
releasing the trapped heat
Pour Point Depressant Additive Gives the oil better low temperature flow characteristics
Helps to reduce low temperature start-up wear
Energy Savings Increased 'oiliness' provides a thin friction reducing film on vital metal parts to reduce
electrical consumption. Many customers have achieved as much as a 13% amperage savings
Documented electrical savings through SWEPCO's ESP program
USDA/NSF/CFIA Compliant Use with total confidence for USDA/NSF H2 or CFIA n1 compliance in closed lube systems in
food processing applications
Long Life Works harder for a longer period of time; reduces waste oil disposal costs

Actual Energy Savings Example
The chart below illustrates the significant savings which were
obtained by switching a single 60 HP rotary screw compressor from a
conventional compressor oil to more energy efficient SWEPCO 702
Rotary Compressor Oil.
Power draw was reduced
from 60 amps to 52 amps,
a reduction of 13.3% with
resulting annual electrical
cost savings of $4,592 on
this compressor alone.
Operating temperature
was also decreased from
180F to 155F, a
reduction of 13.9%.
