NEW HIRE ORIENTATION
MOMENTUM FOR THE JOURNEY
FTI Consultings
2014 New Hire
Orientation was
recently held
September 7th-9th
in Washington D.C.
where new hires
were provided with
the framework and
tools to facilitate a
quick and effcient
integration into
FTI Consulting
I
t was very clear after spending three
days at New Hire Orientation that our
new professionals wanted to leave with
two things: learn more about FTI Consult-
ing and meet new people within the frm.
FTIs New Hire Orientation program,
Momentum for the Journey, was specif-
cally designed to provide our frms new
professionals with the information, tools
and resources they need to begin their
successful career at FTI Consulting, in-
cluding an overview of our business, our
core values, what makes FTI Consult-
ing a great place to work and more.
Over 150 recently hired consultants
and senior consultants (and equivalent
titles) and 30 instructors attended this
years program, which was the larg-
est class our Learning & Development
(L&D) department has ever hosted.
"Nothing energizes me more than
welcoming over 150 new hires to FTI
Consulting at our New Hire Orienta-
tion this frst week of September.
This is an exciting time in the history
of the frm, and the number of new
hires attending this years program is
an example of our growth potential.
Nancy Palmerin, Managing Direc-
tor, Head of Learning & Development
DAY 1 NETWORKING RECEPTION
After arriving in Washington, D.C., on
Sunday, September 7th, our L&D depart-
ment hosted a networking reception for
all of the new hires. Participants were en-
couraged to introduce themselves to one
another and most importantly, have fun!

The L&D team offcially welcomed FTIs
new hires to the frm and expressed how
excited they were for the days ahead.
DAY TWO FRAMEWORK AND
TOOLS
After a delicious breakfast, our L&D team
kicked off the day by welcoming our new
hires to the frm and providing an outline
of the day. Next, Adam Bendell, Chief
Innovation Offcer at FTI Consulting,
provided our new hires with an overview
of FTI Consulting, shared the frms
humble beginnings all the way to where
the frm stands today and hosted a Q&A
session.
Following Adams insightful presenta-
tion on the Company, new hires were
then introduced to Ron Tite, Chief
Executive Offcer of The Tite Group,
a content marketing agency based in
Toronto. Ron brought humor, engaging
and interactive presence to the stage,
and was also the master of ceremony
throughout the program. During this
time, Ron presented on Living up to
the Line, in which he discussed how
companies must live up to their values
and take full responsibility if they are ever
doubted on their products or services.
Next, Matt Pachman, Vice President and
Chief Ethics and Compliance Offcer at
FTI Consulting, provided an overview
of business ethics and compliance at
our frm. Matt made the presentation
engaging by providing our participants
with real life examples, case studies
and reasons why employees should be
aware of the frms Code of Conduct.
After a quick lunch break, Suzanne
Alexander, Vice President of Human
Resources at FTI Consulting, offered an
insightful presentation on FTIs greatest
asset, our people, and shared the frms
core values. FTIs new hires also partici-
pated in an interactive activity and had
the chance to share what their personal
values were with one another and how
they ultimately ft into the frms values.
Alicia Jones, Digital Marketing Director
at FTI Consulting, then took the stage
and spoke about the frms internal and
external integrated communications.
She also encouraged the new hires to
follow FTI Consulting on Twitter, Face-
book and LinkedIn in order stay on
top of the frms latest news and also
shared a sneak peak of FTI Consultings
new and improved website design!
Ron Tite came back to the stage and
gave a great presentation on how our
new hires can build their own personal,
unique leadership brand at the frm and
an overview of our success stories.
New hires were then asked to move to
a breakout room for an informational
session on the role of a consultant and
senior consultant. New hires were able
to get an idea of what their roles and re-
sponsibilities entail, FTIs leadership core
competencies and the frms commit-
ment to developing leaders at all levels.
Later on in the day, our new hires were
introduced to two members from a
local chapter of the Washington, D.C.
Boys and Girls Club. The Boys & Girls
Clubs of America aims to promote and
enhance the development of boys and
girls by instilling a sense of competence,
usefulness, belonging and infuence.
This amazing organization provides a
place for underprivileged children to
learn and grow, while having fun in a
safe environment. It was inspiring to
hear from a young woman who grew
up going to the Boys & Girls Club and
how much it has meant to her over the
past several years. This introduction set
up the context for the evening activity.
At dinner, our new hires got a special visit
from Steve Gunby, President and Chief
Executive Offcer of FTI Consulting. Dur-
ing dinner, Steve stressed how excited
he was to meet our frms new hires.
After introducing himself and sharing
insights on the frm, Steve opened the
foor to questions and was very engaged
with all of our new professionals.
New Hire Orientation was fantastic!
It was great learning more about FTI
Consulting and meeting new people.
I also feel very fortunate that our
FTI Consulting professionals and members from the Boys & Girls Club

on the second day and was genu-
inely excited to be with all of us.

cations, New Hire Orientation participant
As the evening wrapped up, our profes-
sionals were able to partake in an activity
that demonstrated FTI Consultings
commitment to corporate citizenship,
while indulging in Ben & Jerrys ice
cream along the way. Our L&D team
planned an activity called, Building
Backpacks for Success, which sup-
ported the local chapter of the Wash-
ington, D.C. Boys and Girls Club that
our new hires learned about earlier.
The Building Backpacks for Suc-
cess activity was designed to ac-
complish the following two goals:
Promote a fun and engaging way
for individuals to get to know each
other, while re-enforcing some
key learnings covered throughout
the day. Ivelise Zambrano, Senior
Manager, Learning & Development
New hires learned they would be flling
over 72 backpacks with school sup-
plies for members of the Boys & Girls
Club, in a fun, competitive spirit. After
forming groups, there were four dif-
ferent team building stations that our
new hires competed in, including:
1. Inspiration At this station, our
new hire participants put together
cards that were going to be placed
in each backpack. Our new hires
wrote kind, motivating words that
would get members of the Boys and
Girls Club excited about school!
2. FTIs Got Talent New hires had to
work together and come up with two
talents to present to our judge of the
evening, Suzanne Alexander. There
were many different talents, including
speaking in different languages, sing-
ing, doing fips, dancing and more.
3. Spelling Bee New hires had
to put their spelling skills to
use and spell from a lengthy
list of challenging words.
4. FTI Feud On the frst day of New
Hire Orientation, our professionals
were asked to fll out a short question-
naire. Little did they know, the L&D
team collected all of the top answers
so they could use them for a competi-
tive, exciting game of family feud. We
all now know that if FTI were a celebri-
ty, it would be George Clooney, well
according to our new hires that is!
New Hire Orientation was an edu-
cational and exciting experience, I
left with a better understanding of
FTIs services and developed last-
ing relationships. I enjoyed building
backpacks for success, and it was
great to see how the Company gives
back to the community. Jennifer
Omasta, Forensic & Litigation Consult-
ing, New Hire Orientation participant
DAY THREE TYING EVERYTHING
TOGETHER
Day three kicked off with a panel
discussion that was made up of repre-
sentatives from seven of the Companys
businesses. Each representative gave an
overview of their business and people,
which gave our new hires a sense of
what our people do at FTI Consulting,
and also elaborated on some of the top
success stories from their respective
business.
Panel participants included:
Suzanne Alexander, Vice
President of Human Resources,

After the panel discussion concluded,
new hires were asked to move to a
breakout room, which consisted of
individuals from their respective busi-
nesses. During this breakout ses-
sion, our new hires were able to meet
everyone in their business and under-
stand the business services, clients,
best practices and more. It was an
opportunity for our new hires to fully
understand the business they be-
long to and meet their constituents.
As the third day concluded, the panel
was brought back and our new hires
were able to ask them questions about
the frm, their business and pieces
of advice. Ivelise Zambrano, Senior
Manager in our L&D department,
wrapped up the day with by thank-
ing all of our new hires for being great
participants throughout the program.

Partaking in the New Hire Orienta-
tion was a very insightful experi-
ence, which taught all of us about
the values and great reputation
that FTI Consulting embraces. It
was also a very engaging experi-
ence that allowed all of the new
hires to network with fellow col-
leagues across different business
segments. I look forward to my
new career with FTI Consulting and
wish the very best to all of the new
hires. Nick Mohr, Economic Consult-
ing, New Hire Orientation participant
Atlas Addendum would like to thank
our L&D department for hosting
such a successful, fun and insightful
program and wishes the best of
luck to our next group of leaders as
they begin their journey at our frm.
Welcome to our global family!
