1.2 Subscriber access network

Constantly increasing customer bandwidth makes it necessary to move active equipment (DSLAM or MSAN) closer to customers
in order to reduce the length of copper subscriber lines.
The expansion of existing networks, extended services from network operators, and the introduction of IP-based services require
additional space in the network structures and subscriber lines the "last mile" to the customer. Several providers need to
accommodate their equipment and the associated cabling in a limited space. The biggest priority is to achieve the highest degree
of reliability while increasing circuit density.
2. LSA-PLUS HD180 connection and disconnection modules
2.1 Description

LSA-PLUS contacts ensure optimal and durable transmission properties without maintenance expense. The LSA-PLUS HD180
connection and disconnection modules also fulfill the requirement for higher circuit density. Using the LSA-PLUS HD180
modules, up to twice as many terminations can be fitted in the available space as with conventional technology. They can be
used without restriction for services presently available and available in future, such as POTS, ISDN, xDSL and VoIP.

2.2 Working principle of LSA-PLUS contacts

All LSA-PLUS contacts work on the same basic principle, regardless of which
KRONE modules they are used in. Using the LSA-PLUS wiring tool (5), the
plastic-insulated copper wire or jumper wire (4) is pushed into the contact slot
(2) between insulation displacement contacts (3) arranged at 45 to the wire
direction. The contacts spring back in the axial direction with a twisting motion,
cut through the wire insulation, and notch into the wire material offset on both
sides. The combination of the material displacement of the copper wire and
the persistent torques and restoring forces (6, 7) of the insulation
displacement contacts produces two durable, gas-tight contact surfaces that
prevent subsequent wire motion. Additional protection of the contact sites
against vibration and tensile stress is provided by plastic ribs (1) formed in the
routing channel of the module, which are pressed against the insulation of the
wire when it is pushed in and clamp it in place. After the connection is made,
the LSA-PLUS wiring tool trims the wire to the right length in the same
operation. If rewiring is necessary, the wires can be loosened from the
contacts using the fold-out pulling hook of the LSA-PLUS wiring tool,
withdrawn and reterminated.

Mounting brackets are used to ensure a fixed module layout in distribution units. The LSA-PLUS mounting brackets are made
from U-shaped corrosion-proof sheet metal. This makes them very sturdy and ensures secure mounting. Four types of mounting
bracket are available for LSA-PLUS HD180 modules:

2.7 Profile frame for LSA-PLUS HD180 disconnection modules
2.7.1 Profile frame 95/46

The profile frame enables universal fitting of different types of modules
in various enclosures and distribution frames.
It is preassembled with a profile rod spacing of 95 mm and is
suitable for use with LSA-PLUS HD180 modules.

A profile frame consists of two profile rods (stainless steel) with a diameter
of 12 mm and a sufficient number of profile holders with a depth of 46 mm.
The rods are secured in the profile holders by grub screws.

No predefined installation space is necessary for fitting, and the profile frames
can be arranged as needed.

2.7.2 Modular profile frame

Profile frames can also be configured from modular components.
Deeper versions of profile holders are also available for this purpose.

Deep profile frames are primarily used with cable brackets
and cable guides.

The profile holders fit with all profile rods (see ordering data for variable lengths)
with a diameter of 12 mm.

It is recommended to fit an additional profile holder every 500 mm.

The spring-loaded contacts of this test cord mate directly with the

tower of the LSA-PLUS contact to ensure secure plug seating.

3.2 Indoor distribution frame, plastic

Description
Mini distribution frame for indoor installation of LSA-PLUS HD180 disconnection modules.
The base plate is fitted with profile clips and plastic profile tubes as
well as sufficient wire guides.
Cable entries can be made on all four sides.

Surge protection devices cannot be fitted.

1200 mm. They are equipped with installation kits for mounting connection hardware. Profile installation kits for subsequent fitting

3.5 Indoor distribution boxes, steel

Description
UniVK distribution boxes are compact solutions for wall mounting in dry interior spaces and are an excellent choice for small to
medium-size data and communication networks using copper or fiber optics. The distribution boxes are available in four sizes.
The modular structure of the base plate allows it to hold LSA-PLUS HD180 disconnection modules as well as other KRONE
products.

The key fastener for all connectivity hardware is the UniClip. After the UniClips are clicked into the base plate, the profile tubes
and connection hardware can be installed directly in the UniVK. Enhanced access protection can be achieved by using the pivot
handle with a security lock. The pivot handle is mounted in the cover in place of the plastic sign. The grounding kit (consisting of
two profile tubes with riveted studs, toothed washers, nuts and grounding wires) is needed for the ground connection of the surge
protector (ground rail) to the grounding point of the enclosure via the profile tubes. It is recommended to ground each profile tube
(two per row).

3.6 Distribution systems / Main distribution frame 91 M

Description
The MDF 91 M is used in small to mid-sized systems. Its compact modular structure enables optimal adaptation to the available
space. It is designed for both wall mounting and floor mounting. This type of frame has the module installation for line and system
sides located vertically in single profile frame. This arrangement enables jumpering within a row. The standard version has a row
spacing of 250 mm and is basically available as a two-bay frame with vertical construction. The termination capacity per
distribution frame of the preferred variant is 1,200 pairs (2 x 600 pairs) for the system and line sides with the currently used LSA
PROFIL Series 2 modules. The capacity can be raised to 2,000 pairs by using LSA-PLUS HD180 disconnection modules. Other
frame sizes and their capacities are listed in the overview below. Distribution frame banks of any desired length can be set up,
bearing in mind that the jumper capacity of the horizontal wire guides is approximately 4,000 pairs (using 0.9 mm patch wire).
Frame variants with mounting brackets for LSA-PLUS or MDF 71 connection hardware (installation dimension 290 or 210 mm)
can also be configured if necessary.

Preferred frame variant for 2,000 pairs (2 x 1,000 pairs) with room for 200 LSA-PLUS HD180 disconnection modules on the
system and line sides for the following configuration variants:

Wall/standing distribution frame (standing distribution frame, fixed to wall)
Standing distribution frame, single-sided (freestanding distribution frame, fixed to the ceiling)
Standing distribution frame, two-sided (freestanding back-to-back distribution frames, fixed to the ceiling)

4. LSA-PLUS HD180 modules in outdoor cabinets
4.1 FlexCab polycarbonate outdoor cabinets

Description
With constantly increasing bandwidth demand and the resulting new services, which make it necessary to relocate active
equipment to outdoor cabinets, there is also increasing demand for a suitable product portfolio of outdoor enclosures. TE
Connectivity meets this demand for more diversity with the new FlexCab series of polycarbonate (PC) cabinets. They have been
developed on the basis of the well-known model 82 and 83 cross connection cabinets. The FlexCab series of PC outdoor
enclosures consists of various basic sizes. Size 4 is the smallest cross connection cabinets. With the installation of two profile rod
systems and a suitable number of cable entries (two sets of six rubber grommets) in the base plate, the compact enclosure (just
under 1 m high by 44 cm wide) provides terminations for 1,000 copper pairs with LSA-PLUS HD180 disconnection modules.

4.2 FlexCab Migration outdoor cabinet

Description
The FlexCab Metal outdoor cabinet, originally designed for xDSL broadband services, provides room for passive copper and fiber
optic connection hardware and a separate port for UPS connection (power supply). Based on this application, the FlexCab
Migration enclosure was developed as a further variant offering a comprehensive solution with the same basic configuration. This
variant provides room for FTTH customers inside the enclosure, in addition to xDSL customers with copper connection. LSA-
PLUS HD180 disconnection modules installed in the module rack are used for copper terminations. The basic FlexCab enclosure
always consists of:
A small door with dual closure, suitable for retrofitting with single-ended cylinder locks
A separate area for installing UPS equipment on a prefitted mounting plate
A separately accessible telecom area with a 19/ ETSI pivoting rack, with room for connecting copper or fiber optic

The model BC50 distribution box for outdoor use in the access network can be fitted with LSA-PLUS HD180 disconnection
