CURRICULAR STATEMENT
Develop various type of knowledge, attitude and process skill on
heat and temperature through lecture method, group discussion and evaluation
by questioning, participation in group and group discussion.

CONTENT ANALYSIS

TERM: Heat, Temperature

FACTS: 1) Heat and energy are expressed in unit Joule.
2) Temperature is measured by a device known as thermometer.
3) Temperature is expressed in degree Celsius.
CONCEPTS: 1) Heat is the total kinetic energy of the molecules.
2) The temperature of substance is proportional to the average
Kinetic energy of its molecules.
3) Kinetic energy is the energy possessed by a body by virtue of its
motion.
4) Temperature is the device used to measure temperature and it
is expressed in degree Celsius (
0
C).

PRE-REQUISITES
Students know about the heat and temperature.
TEACHING LEARNING RESOURCES
LAB EQUIPMENT: Test tube, tea drugs, candle, water, thermometer.
CLASS ROOM INTERACTION
PROCEDURE

INTRODUCTION

Are you waking up early in
the morning? Will you bath every day?
At cold season water is become too
cold then what will we do? How can we
heat water? What happened when
water is heated? What happened when
water boils in a closed container?
Havent you noticed the movement in
water and the movement of the lid of
the container in such situation? Say

some situation in which heat is used?
We know that heat and light are forms
of energy received from the sun.
Havent you noticed the weather
reports on television? Now Lets go
through a detailed study of heat and
temperature.

PRESENTATION

Divide the students into groups.

ACTIVITY 1

Teacher gives a test tube with
water and tea drugs. And ask them to
put some tea drugs into it. After the tea
drugs settled at its bottom and teacher
ask them to heat the test tube and note
down the observations in the science
diary?

GENERALISATION

When substance are heated
the molecule gain kinetic energy. Heat
is the total kinetic energy of the
molecule and the unit of heat is Joule.

ACTIVITY- 2

Teacher demonstrates an
experiment by inserting a thermometer
into boiling water. Teacher asks the
students to observe the changes in the

changes that happened in
the test tube.

tube begin to move.

thermometer reading? And note down
the observation in your science diary?

GENERALISATION

Temperature is the measure
of different stages of heat.
Temperature of the substance is
proportional to the average kinetic
energy of its molecule. Temperature
can be expressed in degree Celsius.
