A2.1 TERMINOLOGY 3
a= Rounded 'ndications with a maximum len0th of three times the width or
less on the radio0raph are defined as rounded indications. These
indications may be circular( elliptical are defined as rounded indications.
These indications may be circular( elliptical( conical or irre0ular in shape
and may have tails. Chen evaluatin0 the si+e of an indication( the tail
shall be included. The indication may be from any source in the weld(
such as porosity( sla0 or tun0sten.
b= !li0ned 'ndications B ! sequence of four or more rounded indications
shall be considered to be ali0ned when they touch a line parallel to
the len0th of the weld drawn throu0h the centre of the two outer
rounded indications.
c= Thic;ness ItH B ItH is the thic;ness of weld( of the pressure retainin0 material(
or of the thinner of the sections bein0 7oined( whichever is less. 'f a full
penetrant weld includes a fillet weld( the thic;ness of the fillet weld throat
shall be included in ItH.
A2.2 ACCEPTANCE CRITERIA 3
a= 'ma0e )ensity B )ensity within the ima0e of the indication may vary and is not a
criteria for acceptance or re7ection.
b= Relevant 'ndications B .nly those rounded indications which exceed the followin0
dimensions shall be considered relevant.

6.1.1 The base metal preparation used shall leave the weldin0 0roove with reasonably
Smooth surface and free from deep notches( striations( or irre0ularities. The surfaces
/or weldin0 shall be free from oil( 0rease( or other forei0n materials.
6.1. Chen the pipes( tubes are welded to0ether( the ali0nment shall be such that the inside
Surfaces provide for complete weld penetration. The weld shall meet the reinforcement
Requirement of table 1.

6.1.8 !s welded surfaces are permitted includin0 fillet weld( however the surface of the weld
Shall be sufficiently free from coarse ripples( 0rooves( overlaps( abrupt rid0es( and valleys
