This document provides an overview of object snaps and arc commands in AutoCAD 2007 2D drafting. It describes the different types of object snaps that allow precise selection of points on existing objects, such as endpoints, midpoints, intersections, and more. It also outlines several methods for constructing arcs, including specifying the start point, center, and endpoint; start point, center, and angle; start point, center, and length; and start point, end point, and direction.

OBJECT SNAPS: Or OSNAPs are a means of responding with precision to any prompt directing the user to pick a point in the drawing. They provide the means for precisely locating and selecting a point (endpoint, midpoint, center point, etc. on (or referenced !y any e"isting o!#ect in the drawing. OSNAP is an important mode used for locking onto key locations of o!#ects $ses geometry to locate specific positions %hen the cursor moves over a valid SNAP PO&NT, an OSNAP sym!ol appears along with a TOO'T&P telling which OSNAP (ode is !eing used. OBJECT SNAP MODES: Endpoint Snaps to the closest endpoint of an arc, elliptical arc, line, mline, polyline segment, or ray or to the closest corner of a trace, solid or )* face. Midpoint Snaps to the midpoint of an arc, elliptical arc, line, mline, polyline segment, solid, spline, or "line. Intersection Snaps to the intersection of an arc, circle, ellipse, ellipticl arc, line, mline, polyline, ray, spline, or "line. Extension Snaps to the e"tension point of an o!#ect. +ou can esta!lish an e"tension path !y moving the cursor over the endpoint of an o!#ect. A market is placed on the endpoint. %hile the endpoint is marked, the cursor snaps to the e"tension path of the endpoint. Apparent Intersection Apparent &ntersection snaps to the apparent intersection of two o!#ects (arc, circle, ellipse, elliptical arc, line, mline, polyline, ray, spline, or "line that do not intersect in )* space !ut appear to intersect in the drawing display. Center Snaps to the center of an arc, circle, ellipse, or elliptical arc. Node Snaps to a point o!#ect. Quadrant Snaps to a ,uadrant point of an arc, circle, ellipse, or elliptical arc. Insertion Snaps to the intersection of point of an attri!ute, a !lock, a shape, or te"t. Tangent Snaps to the tangent of an arc, circle, ellipse, or elliptical arc. Nearest Snaps to the nearest point on an arc, circle, ellipse, elliptical arc, line, mline, polyline, ray, solid , spline, or "line. Perpendicular Snaps to a point perpendicular to an arc, circle, ellipse, elliptical arc, line, mline, polyline, spline, or "line. Parallel Snaps to an e"tension in parallel with an o!#ect. %hen you move the cursor over the endpoint of an o!#ect, the endpoint is marked and the cursor snaps to the parallel alignment path to that o!#ect. The alignment path is calculated from the current -from point. of the command. None Turns off o!#ect snap modes. ATC 'ine pattern use to fill a close area. T!pes o" atc# Pattern /. $ser *efined 0 1reates a pattern if lines !ased on the current linetype & your drawing. +ou can control the angle and spacing of the lines in your user2 defined pattern. 3. Predefined 0 Specifies a stored predefined Autocad pattern. +ou can control the angle and scale of any stored pattern. ). 1ustom 0 Specifies a pattern that is defined in any custom.
