Assignment 1: Business Processes Implementation
This assignment is design to check the knowledge of the learner
regarding the working of organization, which is dependent on the
internal systems and processes. This assignment will assess whether the
learner understands the concepts and principles, which made up the
effective and effficient working of an organization.
Scenario:
You have been recently approved by the Board of Education as an
admission manager at (your chosen University) or an education centers
of your choice (it could be an English center etc..). The higher
management wants the admission process to be completed in an
appropriate period, including the submission of students' paperworks,
admission fees arranged in such a way that would create a smooth
admission process. List of students given admission in various
departments should be sent to their respective departments (ie. Finance,
Accounting, Management, Marketing etc..). There should be a foolproof
system implemented so that admission is given to only those who
deserve. Since it is your first time as a manager working with students
and you want to prove yourself, you decide to do it by giving a road map
and introducing a new process for admissions for next session.
For assignment 1, you prepare and write down your own answer for the
required questions about business processes, area of responsibility

organisation's goals and objectives

LO 2 Be able to develop plans for own area of responsibility to
implement operational plans
2.1 design plans, which promote goals and objectives for own area of
responsibility.
2.2 write objectives, which are specific, measurable, achievable,
realistic and time-based to align people and other resources in an
effective and efficient way
2.3 implement appropriate systems to achieve objectives in the most
efficient way, on time, to budget, and meeting organisational
standards of quality
2.4 carry out work activities meeting the operational plan through
effective monitoring and control.

1. Task 1.1 Evaluate the interrelationship between the diferent
processes and functions of the organisation

Conduct a throughout research at your chosen college or
center and identify the type of structure it has.
o Formal or Informal
o Tall or Flat structure
o Functional, Geographic, and Products/Services

Draw an organizational chart of that college or center
showing all positions in the departments.
After going through the structure, please identify different
functions, and processes carried out by these functions.
o Based on the structure, identify the functions
performing at this organization. These functions could
be administration, financial, accounting.
Match and describe the relationships between different
functions and processes.
o Determines whether or not there could be a link
between different functions and processes within your
chosen college.

List some of the aims, objectives, and mission of your chosen
college or center and briefly explain the effect of each on its
structure and culture.
o Identify the mission statement of the college
o List some of the aims and objective ie. best institution
of higher education in the country
o Identify some of the goals and objectives of the
college.
After going through aims/objectives & functions analysis draw
a process map for any of the function.
o Following the 4 steps: determine the boundaries, list
the steps, sequence the steps, draw appropriate
symbols.

Evaluate and Identify if there is a quality gateway
implemented on the output of the process you had chosen in
previous task.

o Determine what the college has in place with regard
to its admission processes.

Task 2. Be able to develop plans for own area of responsibility to

o Remember this is YOUR objectives and aims. They are
different from the above listed objectives and aims of
your college.
o Identify what are your objectives to complete your
effectively and efficiently.
Develop a plan according to the task given by higher
authorities
o The plan you develop must be specific and concrete.
o What would you do to ensure the admission process
at your chosen college go smoothly?

end of the essay (Harvard Referencing Style)
GL4 Your report should be approximately 2000 words in length
(excluding the appendices and references). You MUST use font Ariel Size
12 with 1.5 Spacing.
