ANNOUNCEMENT and CALL for PAPERS

The Mathematical Society of the Philippines invites you to participate in its 2014 MSP Annual Convention
to be held on 26-27 May 2014 (Monday -Tuesday) at the Sarabia Manor Hotel and Convention Center,
Iloilo City. The 2014 Convention marks the 41
st
year of MSP as the countrys largest professional
organization dedicated to the promotion of mathematics and mathematics education.

Researchers and educators in all areas of pure and applied mathematics, mathematics education, computing,
statistics and other related areas are invited to contribute short papers for oral or poster presentation during
the convention.

The convention will feature plenary talks, contributed talks and poster
presentations as well as a session of invited talks by noted mathematics educators.
The main plenary talk will be given by Field Medalist Stephen Smale
(Distinguished University Professor, City University of Hong Kong). Prof Smale
received the Fields Medal --- the worlds most prestigious mathematical award ---
for his work on the Poincare Conjecture.

Contributed Talks / Poster Presentations: Short paper presentations (15 minutes) will take place in at
least five parallel sessions (algebra, analysis, graph theory and combinatorics, computing, statistics and
applied mathematics). There will also be poster presentations on mathematics education and any of the
topics given above.

Those who wish to contribute papers or poster presentations are requested to
send the title and abstract to <kristine.carpio@dlsu.edu.ph>. Indicate if you
are submitting for paper or poster presentation. Abstracts (100-200 words)
should be informative for proper evaluation by the program committee.
Electronic submission (both LaTeX and pdf file) is preferred. The deadline
for all abstracts is 22 March 2014.

Registration: Participants are requested to register on or before 16 May 2014 via any of
the three following options and send proof of payment of fees to
kristine.carpio@dlsu.edu.ph.

3) Registration by mail or fax: Fill up the enclosed registration form and mail to
Kristine Joy E. Carpio (Convention Chair), Mathematics Department, De La
Salle University, 2401 Taft Avenue Malate Manila or fax to (02) 536 0270.

You will be considered registered only upon confirmation of payment of your conference fee.

P3500 (Registration fee + 2014 membership fee for MSP members)
P3700 (Non-MSP members)
After 16 May 2014
P3700 (MSP members who have paid 2014 membership dues)
P4000 (Registration fee + 2014 membership fee for MSP members)
P4200 (Non-MSP members)

Everyone is encouraged to register by 16 May since reservations for food and printing of the convention
materials have to be done in advance. There is no assurance that those who register after this date will enjoy
all the privileges of the participants who register early.
