A Voice of Hope

Youth is not a time of life; it is a state of mind; it is not a matter of rosy cheeks, red lips, and supple knees; it is
a matter of the will, quality of the imagination, a vigor of the emotions; it is the freshness of the deep springs of
life.-Robert Kennedy
The person whos standing right in front of you does not have the cogency of our national heroes neither their
satire, nor their judgement. This youth whom you are listening to, watching, or maybe making fun of, has a heart
with full of hope and determination.
To my fair ladies, admirable gentlemen, fellow speakers, friends, and to someone who dreamed of a better
nation, Good Afternoon.
Optimism Most of us especially youths, lived in a world of uncertainty and change where many things are
beyond our control. How we manage often depends on the way we see situations. Motivating our friends to
become an optimist to look at the brighter side of life is a step towards a strong future. Being an optimist comes
to the terms with success and failure; it is having the belief and confidence to try again and to deal with
situations.
Hope Is it a wishy-washy maybe or a kind of unsure optimism? The modern concept of hope is to wish for, to
expect, but without certainty of the fulfillment; to desire very much, but with no real assurance of getting your
desire. My friends, hope is being able to get through the dark and see the light at the end of the tunnel.
Optimism and hope are the feeling of having a positive outcome for the future. It is the thing that keeps the world
go round. It keeps us to advance. With the many challenges we face, and the countless adversaries that contest
us, hope is the leap of ourselves towards our grandest path.
Dr. Jose P. Rizal hoped that one day this modern generation would be able to keep our native land in serenity.
He was optimistic that this country would someday attain liberty, freedom, and independence from foreign
colonizers. Rizal had passed the task to the sole reverie of fresh yet critical mindsto us. The youth is the hope
of the fatherland. Rizal said. We hold the silver pen of enlightenment, the future of development and betterment.
The youth, despite the criticisms we face as being stubborn, imprudent, irresponsible and other labels that the
hopeless had put into us, will rise into the occasion, and prove that indeed Dr. Rizal was right. We could help our
society into molding a better environment for our posterity. The critical minds of today will be changing the world
of tomorrow.
My fellow youth, freedom is a dream; it is not in the nature of dreams to be put easily into reality. We may not be
able to attain prosperity and equality, yet, we must continue searching for it. For in that action, although we do
not find what we wanted, we could find what we needed. And, in this progressive search for an orderly society, we
raise our identity as Filipinos and our existences for humanity. Remember that true words are not alluring; thus,
alluring words are not true.
