6 How to operate
Operation of devices with a 5.7 display or with a touch screen is almost identical. Below,
the touch screen is only mentioned if there are differences.
When using the touch screen you can usually touch the icons directly in addition to the pro-
cedure that is described.
These instructions are based on pictures of displays of devices with
a 5.7 display. In devices with a touch screen, the soft keys and infor-
mation blocks are sometimes arranged differently.
6.1 Switch on device
Prerequisites:
-- The device is has been installed properly and connected.
-- The operating conditions listed on page 8 have been fulfilled.
-- The operating personnel has been trained and complies with the safety instructions
listed in chapter 3.
-- The weight belt is empty.
Switch on the device at least 20 minutes before start to production.
It takes this amount of time for the scales to reach the correct opera-
ting temperature. If production is started earlier, the precision of the
weighing process might be affected.
Turn the main switch in a clockwise direction.
The main menu appears after a few seconds.
The permission level is 1.

duction is over.
Press <Stop>.
Turn the main switch in an anti--clockwise direction.
Secure the device against being switched on again: Put a padlock through the main
switch and lock it.
6.3 Reset scales
The device is automatically set to 0 when it is switched on and also at certain intervals.
If the weight display is not equal to 0 when no package is on the scales, they can be set
to zero manually. Manual setting to zero is possible within a range of +/--2%of the nominal
weight.
Inautomatic scales equipment, azeropoint adjustment of thescales is requiredafter aspe-
cific period of time of number of packages. The device then interrupts the weight checking
process for a short period of time.
The reason for the display of weight larger than 0 could be a foreign body on the scales.
If necessary, clean the weight belt, see page 120.
If the weight belt is empty, press <Reset>.
The weight display is 0.
6.4 Start and stop device
Prerequisites:
-- The device is configured for the production environment.

selection is made based on the statistics. In order to switch the func-
tion on or off, press <+/-->.
Nominal weight: Nominal weight of the product.
Selection criteria Sliding contents control
The device executes a check for completeness based on the package weight; e.g. number
of screws in a box. The sliding content check is not affected by external influences such
as humidity because slow changes to the mean value have been taken into account.
Settings are required for the following attributes:
Too light: Limit value after which the package is deemed too light.
good: Upper limit value up to which the packages are considered OK.
Too heavy: Limit value after which the package is deemed too heavy. The value
is identical to the good value. That is why no input can be made
here.
Nominal weight: Nominal weight of the product.
Sliding mean value lower limit, Sliding mean value upper limit:
Lower limit and upper limit for sliding mean values. The limit values
can either be entered as an absolute weight or as a percentage. The

6.10.11 Teach package
In order to attain maximum performance of the device, the teach procedure is required.
With each learning procedure, the device adjusts optimally to the device.
The learning procedure comprises statistical weighings fromthree different packages and
10 dynamic weighings of these packages respectively. The device evaluates the measure-
ments and saves the package--specific data.
The package--specific data may contain an offset between the statistically measured
weight and the dynamically measured weight. That is why the subsequent Check on per-
missible verification limits is required.
You can teach each package. When the prespecified product data demand that a learning
procedure be carried out, the respective message appears before the product data is sa-
ved.

6.10.12 Check for verification error limits
With the Check on permissible verification limits the device checks to see if the device
measures the weight of the package correctly in accordance with the package--specific
data and that the verification regulations are adhered to.
If, based on the specified product data, the device calculates that it can comply with the
verification regulations, Check on permissible verification limits without executing a lear-
ning procedure, the display shows Check on permissible verif. limits (recomm.). After a
learning procedure, you are obliged to carry out a check against verification error limits.

9.1.2 Stainless steel surfaces
Devices made of stainless steel are extremely weather resistance and therefore suitable
for most environmental conditions. However, stainless steel can corrode as well (rust).
If rust appears onthesurface, this is surfacerust anddoes not come fromthe material itself.
This rust is a result of contact corrosion for example.
Cleaning agents for stainless steel surfaces
-- All stainless steel cleaning materials are permitted. Before applying, make sure you
read the package instructions.
-- Halogen (i.e. chloride-- and fluoride--, salt-- and hydrofluoric acid--free cleaning agents
are also permitted.
-- After cleaning the device must be rinsed well with tap water.
Do not use the following cleaning agents:
-- Materials and agents made of unalloyed steel
-- Abrasive fleece
-- Cleaning agents that contain salt or hydrofluoric acid
-- Chrome--, silver--, and brass cleaning agents
Type of stain Cleaning agent to use
Lime--scale Acidic cleaning agents, e.g. phosphorous, saltpeter,
sulfamic acid, (wear protective gloves)
Surface rust Acidic cleaning agents, e.g. phosphorous, saltpeter,
sulfamic acid, (wear protective gloves)
Grease and oil stains Alkaline cleaning agents (wear protective gloves)
Spray paint Solvent cleaning agent or organic solvent (e.g. turpen-
tine, nitro dilution (take note of accident prevention
guidelines)
Lime--scale or sprays of ce-
ment mortar
Rubber scraper, wooden spatula (no metal scrapers
or knives)
Maintenance information for stainless steel
Bizerba only uses high--quality stainless steels. To avoid the formation of rust on high--qua-
lity steel parts thedevice shouldnot betreated tosubstances containingchloride (e.g. clea-
ningagents or disinfectants) andshouldnot beexposetoachlorideatmosphere. If this can-
not be avoided, the steel parts should be rubbing over with cleaning oil, e.g. the Bizerba
service oil (material number 94008900022) is absolutely necessary to prevent against the
formation of rust.
