Have you noticed? Despite the fact that the scope of work, and thus
the costs, associated with updating and upgrading our sanctuary increased, youve not heard pleading or experienced prodding for more
money. Its not that I dont want you to give for Gods work. There is
no better investment than to generously give toward Kingdom efforts, especially
through the Body of Christ. I want all of us to grow in giving, and my prayer is
that each of us will give as we have been prospered by God.
Thanks to the generosity of a few, the additional needs related to the renovation are in good shape. The beauty of this is that it frees the rest of us to focus our
giving for ministry and mission through Eastminsters annual operations. As we
begin looking toward 2015, please begin thinking and praying now about increasing your pledge or, for those who do not currently give, joining in supporting
Gods work through Eastminster.
With our renovations coming to completion, take a moment to reflect on where
you are in your life and in your relationship with God. On Sunday, October 26, we
will rededicate our sanctuary to God. That same day, you will be invited to rededicate yourself to our Lord, as well. I encourage you to begin preparing your heart
and mind even now.
In joy,
Brad
And God is able to bless you abundantly, so that in all things at all times, having
all that you need, you will abound in every good work. 2 Corinthians 9:8

What a glorious time: that period we call Advent and Christmas, those seasons that mean
so much to all of us Eastminsterites. The lightsthe musicthe joy of givingthe Story. All
of it comes together and warms our hearts and souls year after year.
We invite you to join us this year at Eastminsters annual Advent Retreat as we wrestle
with the whys and hows of Shouting It from the Mountain Top! Some fresh
ways to dare to share the love of Christ with many around us: with family members, with
those co-workers, with our friends from down the street. If this peaks your interest, pick-up
a brochure at church, download a brochure from the E-News or check us out online. You
may register with Mary at 256-1654 or mbaldauf@eastminsterpres.org.
CHAMPS has a 6th-grade student who needs assistance with math. She can meet on
Wednesday from 4:00 5:00 p.m. If this day and time will fit your schedule and you would
like to assist, please contact Doretha Evans (devans@eastminsterpres.org) or call 256-1654
ext. 141.
Led by Caroline Bennett every Friday morning, 9:30-10:30 a.m., this Bible study group is
designed especially for moms with young children. This season we will be focusing on the
Book of Ruth. We have four spots still available! To secure your spot or find out more information, contact Caroline Bennett at 238-6052 or caroline.bennett@att.net. Praying Moms
Bible Study meets in Room 353, of the Education Building.
It is time to sign-up for the new basketball season. Boys and girls, 1st grade through high
school, are invited to register. Registrations will end on October 1. You may register online at
www.eastminsterpres.org/ministries/CLC/forms. If you have questions, please contact Bill
Ketchin at 256-1654 or bketchin@eastminsterpres.org.
Do you have any medical equipment (wheelchairs, walkers, commodes, or shower chairs) that
you no longer need? If so, please consider donating them to the medical closet at EPC! We
lend medical equipment to church members who are in need of these items. Also, if you
have borrowed something and no longer need it, we would love for you to return it. You
may donate or return items to Maria Harvin, Mary Baldauf, or Lynn Grandsire at the church
office. We will be happy to provide a tax receipt for your donation.
Eastminster gives $3,000 per year to South Sudan Ministries. Our
current gift goes toward clean water projects in Sudan, and past gifts
have gone toward building schools, publishing the Bible in the native
language, and supporting a medical doctor.
First Grade sacrament training is a two-Sunday special track for first graders to
learn about communion and baptism. Games, self-directed stations and Power
Point presentations convey an age-appropriate, Reformed understanding of what
the sacraments mean. This will be held during the Sunday School hour, 10:00 11:00 a.m. on Sunday, October 5 and 12. No advance registration is required. Join
us in the CE building room 251.
As many of you have heard, Harvest Hopes requests for assistance numbers
continue to rise. Please continue your support of the peanut butter program at
Eastminster and bring your jar(s) to church with you.
The Family Shelter has a critical need for diapers sizes 3, 4 and
5, AND wipes. Between now and October 19, bring diapers to
boxes in Thompson Hall, the CLC and the churchs main reception area. The mission of the Family Shelter is to provide emergency shelter, food, resources, and hope to homeless families with
children in the Midlands area.
The children at Eastminster Day School are selling products from Charleston
Wrap for the annual fall fundraiser and would love the support of EPC church
members! These items make great Christmas and birthday gifts! The children
have catalogs that you can view to place your order or you can order online. Visit
www.charlestonwrap.com/shop-now.php and enter school code 8471 in the gray
box. The deadline to order is Oct. 7, and all proceeds will directly benefit EDS.
Thank you for your support!
Dont miss out! Send your information to share with the congregation to
tcarter@eastminsterpres.org.
Please have your information in by
Wednesday, October 8, to be shared
in our next newsletter on October
19, 2014.
