Tech I Semester Supplementary Examinations September 2009 ADVANCED DIGITAL SIGNAL PROCESSING (Electronics and Communications) Time: 3hours Max.Marks:60 Answer any FIVE questions All questions carry equal marks --- 1.a) State and prove circular convolution property of DFT? In what way it is related to Linear convolution? b) Determine the output of a linear phase FIR filter whose impulse response h(n) = {1,2,3} and input signal x(n) = {1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9} using overlap-save method.
2.a) Determine the DFT of the given data sequence
X(n) = { 2,1,4,6,5,8,3,9} by DIFFFT. b) Derive the algorithm and draw the N=8 flow graph for the DIT SRFFT algorithm, compare the flow graph with the DIT radix-2 FFT flow graph.
3.a) Compare and contrast Butter worth and Chebyshev filters .
b) Show how to use a lattice structure to implement the following all-pass filter 0.5+0.2z -1 − 0.6 z −2 + z −3 H(Z) 1 − 0.6 z −1 + 0.2 z −2 + 0.5 z −3 4.a) Determine the impulse response of an FIR lattice filter with parameters K1=0.6, K2=0.3, K3=0.5 and K4=0.9 b) Sketch the direct form and lattice form of all-zero and all-pole filters specified by the K-parameters given in part a.
5.a) Explain about decimation and interpolation processes with an example.
b) Derive an expression for O/P of decimator in frequency domain.
6. A linear system in described by the difference equation

a) Determine PSD of the O/P y(n).
b) Determine the autocorrelation ℘yy (m) of the output. c) Determine the variance σ y2 of the output. 7.a) Determine the model parameters of ARMA process and give the relation between autocorrelation and the model parameters. b) Compute the power spectrum estimation using the Yule-Walker method.
8.a) Explain about finite word length effect in IIR filters.
b) The system in characterized by the difference equation y(n)= 0.75 y(n-1)+ 5x(n). The input signal has a range ± 12V, represented by 8-bits. Determine i) Quantization step size. ii) Variance of the error signal iii) Variance of the quantization noise at the output. ****
