Upon successful completion of the course, the student will be able to understand:
1- The different routes of parenteral administration.
2- Properties of water for injection
3- Preservation of parenteral products.
4- Advantages and disadvantages of different types of parenteral containers
5-Different classes of ophthalmic products
6- Bioadhesive drug delivery systems
7- Microencapsulation, and the general methods used to prepare microcapsules
8- Reasons for microencapsulations.
9- Aerosols and sprays, advantages, principles, aerosols systems, containers and
valve assembly

3- Intended Learning Outcomes of Course(ILOs)
a- Knowledge and Understanding:
At the end of this course learning, the students will have comprehensive
knowledge and understanding of;
al- Principles of pharmaceutical sciences in the field of pharmaceutics.
a2- Physicochemical properties of drugs including active ingredients and
addatives.
a3- Principles of drug formulation, packaging, storage, route of administration
and bioavailability of medicine in variable pharmaceutical preparations as
parenteral, ophthalmic, aerosols and microcapsules.
B- Intellectual Skills:
At the end of this course the students should be able to;
b1- Prepare safe and effective medicines for individual patient use.
Adjustment of isotonicity of parenteral and ophthalmic preparations.
Find out a correlation between the type and concentration of the applied film
and the release rate from microcapsules.
b6- Choose rationally the adjuvants used for delivery and formulation of
biologically active molecules.
C- Professional and practical Skills:
At the end of this course the students should be able to;
c1 Compound, package and dispense medicine in appropriate dosage form
accurately and safely (parenteral, ophthalmic, microcapsules).
D. General and Transferable Skills:
At the end of this course the students should be able to;
d1-Use information technology skills including word processing and
information retrieval through online computer searches.
d9- Work effectively in team.
d12- Manage his/her time.
