Introduction and Citation:
This report covers the period from Sat 13-9-2014 until Fri 19-9-2014. However, it is worth
pointing out the following:
1. Fatalities of the regime, the Army of National Defense (Shabiha), Lebanese Hizbullah, Iraqi and
Iranian Militias are not included in the reported death toll.
2. These fgures are not fnal in any way, and they are subject to continuous and periodic scrutiny
by centers activists, the data base administrators and the feld documentation team.
3. Figures may differ between reports, even within the same district, and this can be referred to the
territorial audit that would reveal places of errors and faults, as well as the continuous follow up to
identify undistinguished martyrs whenever they are identifed.
Martyrs of the Week:
During this period, the Violations Documentation Center in Syria managed to document (550) martyrs
in all the Syrian governorates, (495) of whom were documented by names, while (55) i.e.(10 %) of the
total number, were unidentifed bodies because they had turned into carnages.
two of them documented by photo and fve of them by video and (48) were documented only by
witnessing.

First: the Distribution of Martyrs according to Governorates
Aleppo governorate witnessed the fall of the largest number of martyrs, as the total number was (148
martyrs) i.e. (27 %), followed by Damascus Suburbs (118 martyrs) i.e. (22 %), then Homs (64 mar-
tyrs) followed by Idlib and Hama (57 martyrs).

Second: the Distribution of Martyrs according to Death Causes
(141) martyrs i.e. (32 %) died as a result of fre shots and sniper bullets, whereas (175) of them
i.e. (40 %) died because of air shelling and barrel bombs. Moreover, (71) martyrs i.e. (16.5 %) killed
because of artillery shelling and mortar shelling.
VDC has also documented (31) detainees under torture in detention centers around Syria.

Third: the Distribution of Martyrs according to the Days of the Week
Monday 15th September 2014 witnessed the fall of the largest number of martyrs, when (131) of them
fell i.e. (23 %) of the total number. After that, Tuesday 16 September 2014 witnessed the fall of (105)
martyrs i.e. (20 %) then Thursday 18 September 2014 witnessed the fall of (99) martyrs.
Fourth: the Distribution of Martyrs according to Gender
The number of male adult martyrs is (402 martyrs), i.e. (73 %) of the total number, the number of
male children is (66 children), i.e. (12 %), the number of adult females is (49 martyrs), i.e. (9 %), the
number of female children is (33 martyrs) i.e. (6 %).

Fifth: the Distribution of Martyrs according to the Category (Civilian/ Noncivilian)
(399) civilian martyrs were reported i.e. (73 %) of the total number of martyrs, while only (151) fght-
ers fell i.e. (27% ( among of them three children Non civilians were killed during clashes with
regime forces.

Sixth: Other
During this period Violations Documentation Center has documented more than (16) martyrs at the
hands of the Islamic State in Iraq and Sham (ISIS/Daash) including (6) civilians, and (10) fghters of
the Free Syrian Army and other fghting factions.
Seventh: Martyrs of vaccination:
On 15/9/2014, fourteen children died in Maarrat al-Numan in Idlib governorate due to what is called
a medical error during an immunization campaign in Idlib, seven of them were baby boys and seven
baby girls.
