Research is an organized and systematic way of finding answers to

Research in common parlance refers to a search for knowledge. Research is a
careful investigation or inquiry specially through the search for new facts in

Definition based on synthesis and interpretation of the above definitions
and self- understanding
Research is a systematic and detailed method of investigation, analysis and
interpretation of pertinent information on a particular topic of interest in
order to discover new information or reach an understanding.

It is a planned structure which comprises of overlapping activities which helps
to obtain information. It is focused and limited to a specific scope.
Research and reports can be related by their content of data and ideas derived
from several sources. But, they vary in the fact that research includes analysis
and interpretation of the sourced data and ideas. It focusses on providing a
detailed and distinct answer for the issues, ideas and problems addressed in
the topic.

Evidence Based Design
Evidence Based Design (EBD) is the judicious use of quantitative and/ or
qualitative research and project evaluations to design environments that
facilitate the best possible outcomes.
EBD enables to not only create spaces that are designed for a specific outcome
or result, but also refines any kind of measurable building data (waiting time,
circulation time, etc.), hence, helping to create a healthy environment to fulfill
its mission.
EBD is particularly used to design healthcare environments.
