PRESS RELEASE
TiO
2
Pigment Annual Review 2014 - Leading independent global report
3 July 2014 TZ Minerals International (TZMI) is pleased to announce the release of the fifth edition
of the TiO
2
Pigment Annual Review which is dedicated to the multi-billion global titanium dioxide
pigment market, which has experienced varying dynamics since the first edition was published by
TZMI.
This year, TZMI has undertaken extensive updates to its database for all of the sectors in the
titanium value chain. This has been supplemented by a number of in depth research projects
undertaken in China further bolstering TZMIs expertise in these sectors.
The TiO
2
Pigment Annual Review provides a detailed overview of the TiO
2
pigment industry
in 2013 and an outlook that is suitable for current participants and those without prior
exposure to the sector. The information contained in TiO
2
Pigment Annual Review 2014 is carefully
researched drawing on TZMIs extensive database. It is also an essential reference for the industry
while identifying key trends and developments within the sector and the broader impact on a global
scale.
There have been a number of significant announcements and events in regards to the top global TiO
2

pigment producers and TZMI provides the context and analysis as to what this may mean for the
industry going forward.
TiO
2
pigment is used predominantly in the production of high-quality surface finishes to impart
opacity, brightness, and whiteness. TiO
2
s main attribute is to improve the aesthetic appearance of
the product and, as such, TiO
2
is considered to be a quality of life product and consumption generally
increases as disposable income increases.
In 2013, seven global producers made up more than 57% of the global nameplate capacity: DuPont,
Cristal, Tronox, Huntsman, Kronos, Sachtleben and Ishihara Sangyo Kaisha (ISK). DuPont and Tronox
operate only chloride route plants, the other global producers operate plants that use both sulfate
and chloride route technologies. China continues to increase TiO
2
capacity and its influence on the
industry.
The principal product of the mineral sands industry is titanium raw minerals used as feedstock for
the production of primarily, (TiO
2
) pigment and, to a lesser extent, titanium metal. Of the TiO
2

feedstock mined and processed, more than 90% is used in the chloride and sulfate methods of TiO
2

pigment production.
TZMI also produces other publications that address the TiO
2
pigment industry including: Global TiO2
Pigment Producers Cost & Profitability Study; TiO2 Pigment Industry Report, a monthly data report
with some trade commentary; and TiO
2
Pigment Price Forecast, which is published quarterly.

TZMI 2
This publication is a significant resource for participants in the TiO
2
pigment sector and extends to
those in the mineral sands industry in general. It is suitable for those wanting to maintain an in
depth understanding of the sector, including:
Pigment producers
End-consumers (paint and coatings, paper, chemicals and others)
Mineral sands industry participants
New entrants to the industry
Financial industry (Fund managers, hedge funds, investors and potential investors)
Orders for TiO
2
Pigment Annual Review 2014 are now being taken by TZMI. For more information
