Developedafinancialplanthathasgrowntheoperatingbudgetby132%since2004.Ledtheeffortto
increasegrantfundingwhichhasresultedintheinstitutionreceivingover$4.5millioningrantsupport
forservicesandresearchsince2004.Ledtheefforttogrowfundingforinitiativessuchasscholarships,
facultysupport,programsupportandfacilitiesthathasresultedinraisingover$5milliondollarssince
2004.
Garneredpublicsupportandawarenesslocally,regionallyandstatewideforthechangeinroleand
missiontoabaccalaureateinstitution.RepresentUSCBontheCouncilofPresidentsfortheSouth
CarolinaComprehensiveUniversities.RepresentUSCBatthesystemlevelattheBoardofTrustees,at
thePresidentsExecutiveCouncil,andinallleadershipinitiativesforUSC.RepresentUSCBtoregional,
stateandnationalassociationsandorganizations.
Ledtheinstitutionsaccreditationstudyforchangeinroleandmissionandseparateaccreditationaswell
asreaffirmation.
DevelopedandimplementedtheplantogaincommunityandstatesupportforaBachelorofSciencein
Nursingdegree.Obtainedover$1.8millioninprivatesupportforcapitaltoupfitspaceappropriatefor
thisnewprogram.

CollaboratedwiththeTownofHiltonHeadIslandinformingtheUSCBCenterforEventManagementand
HospitalityTraininginSeaPinesPlantation.
Developedalifelonglearninginstitutethatnowhasover1500membersandisaninvitedmemberofthe
OsherLifelongLearningNetwork.Theinstitutehasreceiveda$2millionendowmenttosupportthis
effortinperpetuity.

educationneedsoftheregionincludingmodelsofprovidingaccesstobaccalaureatedegrees.

WorkedwithBeaufortCountytodevelopabusinessplanforataxincrementfinancedistricttosupport
buildinganewcampuson80acresofgiftedlandwith$28.5millioninTIFfunding.

ThiswasaclassroomstudythatinvolvedtenAPCalculusclassesinSouthCarolinaschoolswithatotalof
127students.Thestudyutilizedtwounitsofinstruction.Thereplicatingstudyrequiredthathalfofthe
classesbetaughtbythecalculatorbased,graphexplorationmethodforoneoftheunitswhiletheother
halfoftheclasseswereinstructedbytheteacher'straditionalmethodofinstructionwithouttheuseofa
graphicscalculatororcomputer.Forthesecondunit,themethodofinstructionwasswitched.Each
teacherwastrainedtousetheexperimentalmethodthatinvolvedthegraphicscalculator.Inaddition,
classroomvisitsweremadetoprotectthevalidityofthestudy.Thestudyrequiredthattwoinstruments
bedesignedandfieldtestedbeforebeingadministeredtotheclassesinthestudy.Ananalysisof
covariancewasusedtoanalyzethedata.
