(Sentence construction)




















Tips for Section A :

1. List down the subjects that you want to write about ( specifythem).
2. Find the verbs for those subjects listed ( youmayrefertopage4).
3. Write in present continuous tense form ( is/are t verbing)
4. Add some complement to complete the sentences ( ROS:refertopage 3 ).
5. Add some adjectives and adverbs and preposition ( youmayrefertopage3 ).
6. Eg : preposition on the table / under the tree / in front of the counter.
7. Use variety of sentence structure
8. Avoid any repetition or redundancy.
9. Finally, make sure your sentences are made up of three basic parts ; subject,
verb and ROS/object ( youmayrefertopage 3 ).

SENTENCE STRUCTURE 7 TYPES OF SENTENCES



All English sentences are made up of three basic parts :

Subject Verb The Rest Of the
Sentences (ROS)



1. Ali kicks the ball.
2. A man is reading newspaper under the shady tree.
3. The teacher is busy.
4. The girl with ponytail hair is eating ice-cream.



Simple and Compound Sentences

A compound sentence is formed by joining two or more simple sentences using
conjunctions ( and, but, or, because, so, while ).

Simple sentence 1 : Ali is reading a book.
Simple sentences 2 : Akim is reading a book.
Compound sentences : Ali and Akim are reading books.





Complex Sentences

A Complex sentences is formed by adding a clause.

Simple sentence 1 : Ali is my brother.
Simple sentences 2 : Ali is reading a book.
Compound sentences : Ali who is my brother is reading a book.
