MyMathLab: Use the course ID catral50412 and your access code to do homework assignments on
MyMathLab. If you have the access code, I highly encourage you to do these assignments as they give a
good practice for the quizzes given at recitation. Completion of MyMathLab assignments is optional and
does not count towards your grade.
Grading Policy: Your grade will be based on exams and recitation work. Recitation work will consist of
scheduled quizzes given during recitation. All quiz questions are either similar or taken directly from the
suggested homework problems or MyMathLab assignments. The computation of your recitation grade is
determined by your recitation instructor. Your course grade will be weighted as follows:
Recitation Work 75 points
Exam 1 75 points
Exam 2 75 points
Midterm Exam 125 points
Final Exam 150 points
The letter grades will be determined according to the following overall percentages: 90% A, 80% B, 70%
C, 60% D. Plus/minus grading will be used.

Exam 1 : Monday, February 1 (in-class)
Midterm Exam : Thursday, February 25, 8-9:30 P.M., room to be announced
Exam 2 : Friday, April 16 (in-class)
Final Exam : To Be Announced
Missed Exams: There are no make-up tests for missed exams. The exam dates are listed in this syllabus.
If you know in advance about an absence, arrange to take the test prior to the scheduled test time. You
will not be allowed to take a test after papers have been returned to the class.
If an emergency should arise which causes you to miss a test unexpectedly, submit a written explanation
of the emergency upon your return to school. If the absence is deemed justied, a score for the test you
missed will be determined based on the corresponding material from the nal exam.
