At this years AGM we presented to those attending the latest costings for our

new church building development. As elders we have been seeking the Lords
timing for this long awaited project and feel that now we have a multi-functional
building designed, with all necessary approvals in place, we should push the
door open!

The facts:
New building, earthworks and renovation of existing buildings is going to cost
approximately - $ 1.35M dollars.
We currently have in the bank $550,000.
That would leave approximately $800,000 that we would need to borrow from
Stewards Foundation (The Trustee company that holds our deed). The likely
scenario is below for your information and prayerful consideration.
Note that this is the total commitment required for the new building, earthworks
and renovations.
REPAYMENTS AND CHURCH MEMBER GIVING REQUIRED

Borrow $800,000
Interest Rate 6.75%
Over 20 years
Repay amount $72,996 annually
Repay amount $6,083 monthly
Repay amount $1,404 weekly
Based on 80 adults $18 per person/week

Using the number of contributors (80) would require $18.00 per person per week
commitment. However we realise that some people could commit to more and
some less.
This is where a bell curve is a useful tool to use.
A table where 15% of people could possibly afford to give more and another
15% may be unable to give anything is displayed below.
Scenario of giving by church members: Using a typical 'Bell'
Curve
15% (12 people) give 50% $58
per
person/week
15% (12 people) give 0% $0
per
person/week
70% (56 people) give 50% $13
per
person/week

Now, further consider that even without a building being built the following is how much the
building fund has grown over the last 3 years.

Church giving to the Building Fund

2013-14 $51,406
2012-13 $51,347
2011-12 $34,385
Average for 3 years $45,713
Average for last 2 years $51,377

Using the same bell curve tool the following would apply.

Scenario of giving by church members over and above average giving last 2 years:
15% (12 people) give 50% $17 per person/week
15% (12 people) give 0% $0 per person/week
70% (56 people) give 50% $4 per person/week

This scenario requires that existing contributors maintain previous levels of
support.

So what we need to know is the inclination of the Church body to come with us
and commit to the building project. We are seeking to balance the biblical
principles of "Stepping out in faith" with "Being good stewards", and therefore to
that end we seek these pledges to give us that sense of balance. Could you
prayerfully consider how much you could commit.
Please complete, add your name if you want and have back to one of the
Elders or in the offering bag by next Sunday the 5
th
October please.
