b. If there are 84 M & Ms in the bag all together, how many are green? 24 green ones

c. If red M & Ms were added to the bag in part b to get a total of 100, what is the ratio
of green to yellow to red? 6: 15: 4

5. Brian, Tim and Kenny got paid a total of $240 for mowing neighborhood lawns. They split
the money in the ratio of 5: 9: 10.

a. How much less did Brian make than Tim? Brian made $50 less than Tim

b. Brian complained about making so much less. The boys decided to break up their
pay in a ratio of 3: 4: 5 instead. How much more does Brian make than in part a?

Brian now made $60. $60 - $50 = $10. Brian made $10 more than he used to.

6. The ratio of students who wear glasses to the total class is 2 : 5.

a. What is the ratio of students who wear glasses to those who dont? 2 : 3

b. If there are 15 students who dont wear glasses, how many students are in the class?

c. If 5 of the students who didnt wear glasses now do, what is the ratio of students

7. A rope that is 2 feet and 6 inches long is cut into 3 strips in a ratio of 2: 3: 5.
a. How long is the longest piece? 15 inches

b. How much longer is the longest piece than the shortest one? 9 inches

c. What are the lengths of the pieces if they are cut in a 1:2:3 ratio?
5 inches, 10 inches and 15 inches


8. Morgan and Kira have a number of jelly beans in a ratio of 5 : 3. Kira and Mann have a
number of jelly beans in a ratio of 6 : 1.

a. What is the ratio of Morgans jelly beans to Manns? 10: 1

b. If Morgan and Kira have 64 jelly beans in total, how many does Kira have? 24 jelly
beans

c. How many does Mann have? 4 jelly beans
