I have chosen to use Comic Master as my Web 2.0 tool. This tool is user friendly, but I would not use it
for young children. This activity can be used with students in grades three, four, five and higher. In this
activity students will be asked to research a topic. In my school fourth grade does a theme of Medieval
Times, and fifth grade does a theme of Mythology. These themes consists of several lessons and
research conducted by the students either individually or with a group. Students are required to
prepare presentations to reflect their research. Using Comic Master could be a way to present their
research. The students would use historical events and create a comic book to demonstrate their
understanding of the facts learned.
Comic Master could be a way for students to make a presentation. I will teach students how to
create a project using Comic Master. We will practice a few times using characters, backgrounds, and
speach bubbles. Students can manipulate the components of the site to create different comic books.

Finally, the students will use the Comic Master site to create a presentation either printed or presented
via the smartboard. The teacher can create a rubric for grading the project which includes how the
students use the components of the site to present the facts of their research.
Activity two meets AASL standards 3.1.4 Use technology and other information tools to
organize and display knowledge and und understanding in ways that others can view, use and assess,
and 3.3.4 Create products that apply to authentic. It also addresses Common Core Standards W3.6, 4.6
and 5.6 With some guidance and support from adults, use technology, including the Internet, to produce
and publish writing as well as to interact and collaborate with others; demonstrate sufficient command
of keyboarding skills to type a minimum of one page in a single sitting. In this activity students are
taught by me how to use the Comic Master site. They will be given an opportunity to practice making
Comic books. After the students are comfortable with the site they will have an opportunity to create a
comic book of their favorite fairy tale with a twist to the plot. They may also change the ending of the
story.
Comic Master supports inquiry learning. It is a way for students explore a different means of
expressing themselves. Comic Master allows teachers to address the standards easier. Teachers and
students are not tied to the same old ways of presenting a project. Students dont just have to type up a
report, they can create a comic book to show their grasp of the information they learned from
conducting research. If the assignment is to modernize a fairy tale, Comic Master allows the child to do
this using a comic book format and not just to write or to type the words on paper. This is a visually
stimulating presentation that appeals to different styles of learning.
