PROJECT: SCIENCE & TECHNOLOGY HIGHER EDUCATION (AF)

1. This Invitation for Bids (IFB) follows the General Procurement Notice (GPN) for
this project that appeared in UNDB issue No. 751 of 31
st
May, 2009.
2. The Government of Tanzania has received a Loan from the International
Development Association toward the cost of the Science and Technology Higher
Education Project (STHEP) and it intends to apply part of the proceeds of this
credit to payments under the above contracts.
3. The State University of Zanzibar now invites sealed bids from eligible Bidders for
the Procurement of the above bids.
4. Bidding will be conducted using the National Competitive Bidding (NCB)
procedures specified in the World Banks Guidelines: Procurement under IBRD
Loans and IDA and is open to all Bidders eligible as defined in Guidelines.
5. Interested eligible bidders may obtain further information from the Secretary
to Tender Board (Attention: Procurement Expert - WB Project), The
State University of Zanzibar, Tunguu, Library Block, Ground Floor and
inspect the Bidding Documents from 09:00am through 15:00pm exclusive of
public holidays.
6. Qualifications requirements include: Technical: Compliance and current
technology specifications, Financial: Bankers and financial institutions
relationships, Legal: Registrations and proof of business legal
documents, and other requirements. A margin of preference for certain goods
manufactured domestically shall not be applied. Additional details are provided
in the Bidding Documents.
7. A complete set of Bidding Documents in English may be purchased by interested
bidders on the submission of a written application to the address below and upon
payment of a non refundable fee of Fifty Thousand (50,000.00) Tanzania Shillings
for NCB and free for Shopping. The method of payment will be Cash. The Bidding
document will be collected from the following address: SECRETARY, The State
University of Zanzibar Tender Board, P.O. Box 146, Library Block Ground
floor, Zanzibar-Tanzania.
8. All Bids in one original plus three copies, properly filled in, and enclosed in plain
envelopes clearly marked Bidding No. SUZA/G/WB/AF/2/2014/15 NOT TO BE
OPENED BEFORE 10.30 Hours, 20

for Shopping also to be clearly marked with their respective Numbers

9. Late Bids, Electronic Bids, or not opened and not read out in public at the bid
opening ceremony shall not be accepted for evaluation irrespective of the
circumstances.
