SAMPLE LETTER for Hongkongers to submit the inquiry

The Foreign Affairs Committee is launching an inquiry into The UKs relations with
Hong Kong: 30 years after the Joint Declaration, and invites submissions of evidence and
possible recommendations.

Executive Summary
FCOs monitoring job on the implementation of the Joint Declaration and Basic
Law was bad.
China intervened and manipulated Hong Kongs internal affairs. It bleached the
Sino-British Joint Declaration.
The UK should declare the Joint Declaration void immediately and resume British
sovereignty over Hong Kong.
We demand the right of self-determination, just like Gibraltar and the Falkands.
Brief self-introduction
I am a Hongkongese living in Hong Kong. I am worried about our future, our history and
our homeland Hong Kong will soon be destroyed by China. Universal suffrage is not a
solution but a trap. We demand the right of self-determination, just like Gibraltar and the
Falkands. We need Britain coming back.
The FCOs monitoring of the implementation of the Joint Declaration and Basic
Law, including its six monthly reports to Parliament (Note: The six monthly
reports stated the Joint Declaration was well-implemented.)
FCOs monitoring job on the implementation of the Joint Declaration and Basic
Law was bad. It did not reflect the real situation in Hong Kong. China intervened and
manipulated Hong Kongs internal affairs. It bleached the Sino-British Joint Declaration.
Besides, the Joint Declaration is an illegal and inhumane treaty signed without
Hongkoneses consent. As a co-signatory, the UK should declare the Joint Declaration
void immediately and resume British sovereignty over Hong Kong. The UK should then
assist Hong Kong to move towards a self-governing British Oversea Territory or
independence.

Recommendation
As mentioned previously, China intervened and manipulated Hong Kongs internal
affairs. It bleached the Sino-British Joint Declaration. Besides, the Joint Declaration is an
illegal and inhumane treaty signed without Hongkoneses consent. As a co-signatory, the
UK should declare the Joint Declaration void immediately and resume British sovereignty
over Hong Kong. The UK should then assist Hong Kong to move towards a self-governing
British Oversea Territory or independence.
