Car Parking
CAR PARKING IN BELFAST
Roads Service is responsible for many of the public car parks
in Belfast. The charged off-street car parks are managed for
Roads Service by a private contractor.
Roads Service also provides charged on-street car parking in
the city centre.
The operation of tariffs for on-street parking and off-street
car parks in the city centre maximises the vehicle turnover.
This system of parking control assists with trafc
management and helps to contribute to improving the
vitality and viability of the city centre by keeping the most
convenient parking spaces available for shoppers and
visitors by use of competitive parking tariffs. Long term
parkers are encouraged to use an alternative form of
transport or car parking areas away from the city centre.
Roads Service also operate two park and ride car parks at
Northside and Eastside.
PARKING TIPS
1 On-street parking restrictions are designed to assist
trafc ow and improve safety. It is a trafc offence to
disobey these restrictions.
2 It is generally illegal to park within 15 metres of a
junction even if there are no double yellow lines.
3 When using public car parks or on-street parking
spaces always park in the designated parking bays.
4 Leave disabled parking bays for people with
disabilities.
5 Avoid leaving items of value in a parked car.
6 Show consideration, do not park your vehicle in a
way which would inconvenience other road users or
pedestrians.
7 Dont park on an urban clearway during the hours of
operation.
