Equipment List

Hardware
Camera: The camera we plan to use to capture our motion picture is the Sony SLK. We considered
using the Panasonic HVX200 but felt that the Panasonic cannot give us the clarity and accuracy that
the Sony SLK could. The Sony SLK offered beautiful 1080p definition with a zooming mechanic that
felt natural when using it.
Tripod: So that we could ensure that all of our shots were
accurate and steady we decided to invest in a fully
extendable tripod. Through the use of this tripod we will be
able to execute shots with 100% accuracy which compared to
purely hand held footage will help us achieve a more
professional looking film rather than a limited and poorly shot
production.
Sound Pole: As a group we wanted our sound to be as clear as possible. So to enforce
this we agreed to use a sound pole that would over hang the camera in order to catch
every sound made during the scene. This is extremely effective as it allows for a much
clearer audio being used, which in turn adds to the professionalism of our film.
MacBook Pro: We used for the most part of our coursework the most efficient and
powerful laptop at our disposal: the MacBook Pro. This laptop is capable of
performing any task available on IOS, examples of which is typing up documents on word, editing a
photo on Photoshop or even uploading documents to blogger.
USB: USBs are used by most people in modern society they are small portable hard drives were
people can save there work on whenever where they are, just as longs as there is a USB slot in the
computer or laptop which they are using.
Software
Microsoft Word: Microsoft is a great provider for professional office software that allows people to
create immaculate and detailed documents without much effort. Microsoft Word is no exception
that is why we have decided to use this software so that we can type up our documents. We used
this software for a number of different tasks; scriptwriting, blogging, questionnaires and graphs. We
also found Microsoft Words multiple fonts helpful as they allowed us to differentiate between tasks
an example of which is when writing a script we must use Courier New size 12, whereas while
writing another task we may use Calibri size 11.
Scribd: is a digital library, featuring an eBook subscription service that
includes New York Times bestsellers and classics. However the purpose we use
Scribd for is a document uploading service that allows us to convert word
documents into HTML that is useable on our blogger.
Photoshop: Adobe Photoshop is a raster graphics editor developed and published by Adobe
Systems for Windows and OS X. We used Photoshop because it allows us to produce beautiful
images with almost unlimited ways in which we can edit and redesign.
Bubbl.us: Bubbl.us is an online piece of software that allows users to create colourful and creative
brainstorms (Spider Diagrams) that can be saved as jpeg files and then converted to be uploaded to
our bloggers.
Final Cut Pro: Final Cut Pro is a video editing
software developed by Macromedia Inc. and
later Apple Inc. We used Final Cut Pro multiple times
during the postproduction segment as it allowed us to
edit together our raw footage into a professional
looking short film.
Blogger: Blogger is a blog-publishing service that allows
multi-user blogs with time-stamped entries. It was
developed by Pyra Labs, which was bought by Google
in 2003. We used blogger predominately during
preproduction as it allowed us to upload our coursework
onto a blog site that all group members had access to. This was a fast and easy way to access work, it
also eliminated the problem of losing USBs
as once posted it must be deleted by
a group member before it can be
removed.
YouTube: We plan to use YouTube so
that we may upload our final projects
this is an effective website to use as it
allows us to stream the videos anywhere at anytime
during the day.
Slideshare: SlideShare is a Web 2.0 based slide hosting service. Users can upload files privately or
publicly in the following file formats: PowerPoint, PDF, Keynote or Open Document presentations.
ISSUU: Is a free digital publishing site that attempts to simulate the experience of reading a print
publication online we decided to use ISSUU as we thought it would enable us to use a more varied
selection of online software.
