LIFE OF
CHRIST
Class on the
Four Gospels
9:45am
Bethany Room

This study is set up to use the Synopsis of the
Four Gospels, a book that gives the reader a
topical study of each story that is written in
the gospels. For Example: if a particular story
about Jesus is found in both Matthew and
Luke, the synopsis presents both versions of
the story, side by side, so they can be read at
the same time and examined. If you would like
a copy of this book, please contact the church
office. The price (discounted) is now $31.50.

There are LOTS of bowls and pans in the
Fellowship Hall kitchen left from funerals and
other gatherings. Please check to see if you
may have something that needs to go home.

Greenfiber has notified us that they will no
longer be receiving donations of plastics or
aluminum --effective immediately. There will
still be containers to receive your paper
products.
Norfolk Recycling will take aluminum and
plastic bottles free of charge. They are
located at 1415 S. 1
st
St., Norfolk.

SEPTEMBER COUNCIL HIGHLIGHTS
The St. Johns Congregation Council took a
first look at the process for calling a new Senior
Pastor at their September 17
th
meeting. Discussion
centered around two provisions in the St. Johns
Constitution. Section C13.05 specifies that a Call
Committee of six voting members shall be elected
by the Congregation Council. Section C9.07
defines the duties and limitations of an Interim
Pastor and includes the provision that an interim
pastor is not available for a regular call to the
congregation served. The Executive Committee
will be the Nominating Committee for call
committee members.
At the meeting, the Council also approved
continuing health care coverage for the two pastors
at the same level as last year. The provider asked
for ratification because of the changes in
healthcare laws during the past year.
The council was informed that a New Member
Class will meet the first three Sundays in October
at 12:15 p.m. Fourteen new members are currently
signed up. They will join St. Johns on
Reformation Sunday.

NORFOLK FOOD PANTRY
Thanks be to God for abundant blessings and
to our St. Johns members for supporting the
Food Pantry in September. Your participation
in sacking groceries, donations of money,
food, and supplies, and your prayers are much
appreciated.
Shirley Frowick
Food Pantry Coordinator
