I. Accessory parts
* The cable and screw B are not used for the
machines.
II. Installation procedures
< To install for C353/C253/C203 >
1. Turn off the machine and unplug the power cord
from the power outlet.
2. Remove the rear right cover (four screws).
3. Remove the right shield cover (seven screws).
* For following procedure, refer to procedures from
4 on P.E-2.

Note:
To install this product, HD-508 (Hard Disk) should
be installed beforehand.
1. Turn off the machine and unplug the power cord
from the power outlet.
2. Remove the rear right cover (four screws).
3. Remove the right shield cover (seven screws).
* For following procedure, refer to procedures from
4 on P.E-2.
4. Remove the hard disk assy (four screws).
5. Disconnect the cable from the hard disk.
Note:
Pull the cable out straightly by your hands so as
not to bend the pins.
6. Remove the hard disk (four screws).
7. Install the encryption board to the hard disk.
Note:
Mount it with the A side of the illustration as the
reference (four pins on B side will not be used).

8. Install the hard disk with the encryption board to
the mounting bracket (four screws).
9. Fix the bracket with two screw As furnished with
the kit.
10. Install the hard disk assy to where it is shown
(four screws).
11. Connect the cable to the encryption board.
12. Reinstall the right shield cover that has been
removed in step 3 (seven screws).
13. Reinstall the rear right cover that has been
removed in step 2 (four screws).

III. Setting the security kit
1. Plug the power cord into the power outlet and
turn on the machine.
2. Display the Service Mode screen.
(For details of how to display the Service Mode
screen, see the service manual.)
3. Touch State Confirmation.
4. Touch Memory/HDD State.
5. Check to make sure that the Set is displayed for
the encryption board.
6. Touch END.

7. Touch Exit on the Service Mode screen.
8. Turn OFF and ON the Main Power Switch.
Note:
When displayed the Service Mode screen, be sure
to turn off the main power after exiting the Service
Mode screen and wait for 10 seconds or more
before turning on.
IV. Formatting the hard disk
Note:
The following setting should be performed by
the Administrator.
Remove the necessary data from the hard disk
so they will not be lost.
1. Select Utility/Counter Administrator Settings
Enter the Administrator Password Security
Settings HDD Setting HDD Encryption Set-
ting.
2. Touch Yes. OK.
3. Enter the Encryption key and touch OK.
Note:
An encrypted word with twenty letters should be
entered. Words with only a single letter are not
acceptable.

4. Re-enter Encryption key to confirm, and touch
OK.
5. Turn OFF and ON the Main Power Switch.
6. Turning the Main Power ON will display the
screen below.
7. Select Utility/Counter Administrator Settings.
8. Entering the Administrator Password will display
the screen below.
9. Touch HDD Format.
10. Touch Yes OK. to start formatting.
11. Turn OFF and ON the Main Power Switch.

III. Setting the security kit
Note:
Service jig should be used for III. Setting the
Security Kit. See the service manual for how to
connect and operate the service jig.
1. Display the Service Mode screen.
(For details of how to display the Service Mode
screen, see the service manual.)
2. Click State Confirmation.
3. Click Memory/HDD State.
4. Check to make sure that the Set is displayed for
the encryption board.
5. Click END.
6. Click Exit on the Service Mode screen.
7. Turn OFF and ON the Main Power Switch.
Note:
When displayed the Service Mode screen, be sure
to turn off the main power after exiting the Service
Mode screen and wait for 10 seconds or more
before turning on.

IV. Formatting the hard disk
Note:
For following procedure, control panel should
be used and set by the administrator.
Remove the necessary data from the hard disk
so they will not be lost.
1. Press the Menu/Select key in the control panel.
2. Press the key four times to select Admin. Set-
tings.
3. Press the Menu/Select key.
4. Input the administrator password, and then press
the Menu/Select key.
5. Select Security Settings and press Menu/Select
key.
6. Press the key four times to select HDD Set-
tings.
7. Press the Menu/Select key.
8. Press the key five times to select HDD
EncryptionSet.
9. Press the Menu/Select key.

10. Input the encryption key, and then press the
Menu/Select key.
Note:
An encrypted word with twenty letters should be
entered. Words with only a single letter are not
acceptable.
Up to 19 letters can be displayed on the screen.
After entering 19 letters, press the key to
enter the 20th letter.
11. Retype encryption key to confirm, and then
press the Menu/Select key.
12. Turn OFF and ON the Main Power Switch.
13. Turning the Main Power ON will display the
screen below.
14. Press the Menu/Select key.
15. Press the key four times to select Admin.
Settings.
16. Press the Menu/Select key.
17. Input the administrator password, and then
press the Menu/Select key.
18. Select HDD Format and press Menu/Select
key.
19. Select Start and press Menu/Select key.
20. Turn OFF and ON the Main Power Switch.
