The TIL software is part of the CCM software and is loaded onto the TIL PC before
connection to the Node B. Once this is done, the TIL software will be consistent with the
Node B software release.
The Node B can also download its own software from a CD-ROM.
The TIL software offers an intuitive and graphical user interface (GUI) described in
Chapter 6, Understanding the TIL GUI.
The following figure shows the TIL communication architecture.

Peer-to-peer connection
In the peer-to-peer connection mode, the CCM/iCCM port 2 and xCCM port 1 have a
hard-coded IP address. This address is factory-defined and is independent of the module.
Thus, you always know the IP address used to access the CCM for a peer-to-peer
connection. An IP aliasing mechanism can be used to define more than one IP address on
the same interface.
The following figure shows the TIL peer-to-peer connection mode.

The TIL is connected to the front panel of the CCM module using an RJ-45 Ethernet
cable.
If the connection between the TIL and the Node B is successful, the green LED on the
connected port of the CCM module is lit up.
Remote connection
For a remote connection, you must know the public IP address of the CCM/iCCM/xCCM
module in the Node B. This public IP address can be fixed or dynamically assigned by a
DHCP server. The TIL does not handle dynamic IP address allocation of the
CCM/iCCM/xCCM. If the IP address of the module changes between two TIL
connections, you have to know his new IP address for the second connection.
The following figure shows the TIL remote connection mode.

Node B modes
Overview
This chapter describes the Node B connection and operating modes.
Node B connection modes
Stand-alone
The Node B is in stand-alone mode if there is no communication between the Node B
and the OMC-B and the RNC. For more information, see Reset in stand-alone mode
(p. 6-92).
Connected
The Node B is in connected mode if it is operational, linked to the network, and can
receive messages on the Iub interface during TIL connection. For more information,
see Reset in connected mode (p. 6-92).
To switch the Node B from connected mode to stand-alone mode, reset the Node B using
the TIL (Reset in stand-alone mode (p. 6-92)). At the end of the reset, reconnect the TIL
terminal to the Node B. If there is no TIL reconnection within 15 minutes, the Node B
automatically reboots to return to connected mode.
Node B operating modes
Normal mode
In normal operating mode the Node B is connected to the OMC-B and it can be
configured and operated using the TIL and the OMC-B in parallel without any
restrictions.
Maintenance mode
When a Node B is set to maintenance mode using the TIL, it should only be
configured and operated with the TIL.
Note: It is recommended not to issue command to Node B when it is in maintenance
mode and connected to the TIL for site maintenance. The Node B user is also warned
about this recommendation. For more information, see Managing the Node B
maintenance mode (p. 8-23).

Overview
Purpose
Installation of the TIL tool requires numerous procedures. The TIL files are part of the
Java Applet installed on a Node B CCM. Alcatel-Lucent recommends accessing the files
through the web browser on your PC. This ensures that the Java plug-in release of the PC
is compatible with the TIL software release of the Node B equipment.

From the TIL main window for a 9332 rCompact ID/OD, right-click the optical interface
of the CxOIM of the digital Node B and select Return to main GUI to return to the digital
Node B TIL main window.
Behavior of the LEDs displayed in the TIL GUI
Each module of the digital shelf appears with its own alarm information in the TIL main
window (for examples, see TIL main window or TIL main window for a 9311 Macro ID
connected to two 9341 RRHs).
The following sections describe the LEDs corresponding to the alarm information
available for each module of the digital shelf:
black: a hardware fault occurred or at least one BIST result is not OK.
white: the module is present but not connected.
On the graphical display of each CxOIM board, an AL LED indicates if the module is in
Alarm state, if it is connected, if there is a hardware fault or if the 9341 RRH BIST is not
OK.

not detect the PCM link crossings.
CPRI loop back test
The goal of the CPRI loop back test is to validate the digital transmission on fibers and
the CPRI framer level inside RRH.
The BTS can determine if there has been zero error on a given AxC of the CPRI link from
BTS --> RRH --> BTS digital link during a given test duration.

1900, 2100, 900, and 850 checkboxes, which indicate the Node B frequency
bandwidth. The Node B frequency bandwidth depends on the Node B hardware
configuration. Alcatel-Lucent recommends to keep the bandwidth configured by
default.
During the RF TX Cabling building, the TIL checks that the test frequency channel is
within the Node B frequency bandwidth.
Build and display cabling and Cancel buttons.
You can start the RF cabling test when the Node B is in maintenance mode only.
Two main cases are to possible:
RF TX cabling display when the Node B MIB is not built, or when the Node B MIB
is built but no cell is configured (p. 6-169)

RF TX cabling display when the Node B MIB is not built, or when the Node B MIB is built but no
cell is configured
If the Node B MIB is not built or if the Node B MIB is built but no cell is configured, you
can choose any frequency within the Node B frequency band as the test frequency. The
TIL sends the OAM the test frequency as an alternative to the one that is included in the
Node B configuration file. If the test frequency sent to the OAM is different from the one
in the Node B configuration file, the OAM uses the alternative test frequency from the
TIL and performs the test with the TRM board. The RF cabling is then dynamically
generated.
If the alternative test frequency sent by the TIL to the OAM is the same as the test
frequency included in the Node B configuration file, RF cabling test results previously
saved into the EMOAM database are used and the RF cabling is not dynamically
generated.
The following figure shows an example of RF TX cabling representation when the Node
B MIB is not built, or when the Node B MIB is built but when no cell is configured, and
the alternative test frequency is different from the test frequency included in the Node B
configuration file:
RF TX cabling display when the Node B MIB is built and the cells are configured
When the Node B MIB is built and the cells are configured, the only accepted test
frequency is the test frequency of the DLU file. RF cabling test results previously saved
in the EMOAM database are used (at least test done during last Node B reset) and the RF
cabling is not dynamically generated.
To have a dynamic result you have to lock the cells.
The following figure is an example of RF TX cabling representation.

right-clicking on one of the optical interfaces of a CxOIM board. This menu disables the
laser transmission between the selected optical interface of the CxOIM board and the
linked 9341 RRH, whether the optical interface is receiving a laser transmission from the
9341 RRH or not.
After you select Block Tx emission the menu is changed to Unblock Tx emission.
Select Unblock Tx emission to unblock the laser transmission of the optical interface,
after you performed a Block Tx emission.
Note: When the optical link between a CxOIM and a 9341 RRH is blocked, an RRH
reset is necessary in order to establish the link again. Otherwise the RRH is not seen
as "tx emitting". The RRH reset is necessary for the RRH to be synchronized with the
CCM.
Force all Tx emission
You can select the Force all Tx emission menu from the contextual menu obtained by
right-clicking on a CxOIM board. This menu forces all the laser transmissions between a
CxOIM board and the linked 9341 RRHs, whether the CxOIM is receiving any laser
transmission from the RRHs or not.
After you select Force all Tx emission the Force all Tx emission menu is replaced with
an Unblock and unforce all Tx emission menu (see figure below).

Note: After the optical links between a CxOIM and the 9341 RRHs have been
blocked, it is necessary to reset all the RRHs connected to the CxOIM board in order
to establish all the links again. Otherwise the RRHs are not seen as "tx emitting". The
RRH reset is necessary for the RRHs to be synchronized with the CCM.
Reset all RRH Managed by OI
You can select the Reset all RRH Managed by OI menu from the contextual menu
