27th Sunday in Ordinary Time

Celebrating 75 years: Sunday 19th October, 10.30am at St
Josephs, Bishop Paul Bird will be the principal celebrant at
a Mass of Thanksgiving acknowledging 75 years of St John
of God Healthcare Ministry in Warrnambool. Many sisters of St John of God, staff
past and present, and members of the community will gather to acknowledge this
important milestone. All are warmly invited to join in this celebration, followed by
refreshments.

Proclaim Conference
The Proclaim Conference held in August in Sydney proved to be a very worthwhile
event. Sponsored by our Diocese and Parish, Anna Schlooz and I attended the four
day event where much of the discussion and research was centred around the local
parish and the issues being faced by most parishes throughout Australia. The Ballarat
Diocese had the largest number of attendees after the host Diocese of Sydney, which
says a great deal about our Bishop and how he views our local situation. The two
American presenters - a hands on parish priest and pastoral associate, employed by
their parish in Baltimore, have together breathed new life into their own parish and
shared how they did it. They shared many ways, strategies and experiences that we
can transfer into our own parish here in Warrnambool. Their emphasis is on Music,
Message & Ministries and working to making these 3 Ms the best they can as a
whole parish, working together as the people of God. (Tony Herbert).

Ecology & Sustainability Focus: The resources of earth must be shared equitably,

injustice of hoarding resources: greediness, be it individual or collective, is contrary
to the order of creation (Compendium of the Social Doctrine of the Church, No 481)
