When saving files there are a vast amount of formats you can save it in.

Here
is an easy guide to help you get started. On this help sheet there will be a list
of the variety of formats, how they affect the document, the advantages and
disadvantages of saving the file under the different formats.

The second file format is: tif this file format is a
raster file which means the data on the file is
pixel data. tif stands for Tagged Image File
Format.

An advantage is the wide range of support
offered by many other computer programs,
including both Mac and Windows.

A disadvantage of saving your file in this format
would be, it is not compressed automatically
and as a result of this the all the tif files are
naturally large.
The first file format is: jpg this file
format is a raster file which means the
data on the file is pixel data. jgp stands
for Joint Photographic Group.

An Advantage of saving your file in this
format would be the Internet and digital
photography.

Disadvantage of saving your file with
the .jpg is: this format can make the file
a large one due to the quality it
provides; when compress some of the
quality is lost so this is the
disadvantage of this file format.

The third file format is: png this file format is a
raster file which means the data on the file is
pixel data. png stands for Portable Network
Graphics.

An advantage is png supports high-level
lossless compression and transparency with is
good for creating logos. pngs are also widely
supported by more recent web browsing
programs.

A disadvantage of saving your file in this format
would be, because this file format is a recent
invention older browsers and programs may not

The fourth file format is: bmp this file format is a
raster file which means the data on the file is
pixel data. bmp stands for Windows Bitmap.

bmp supports a wide range of colours and is
widely compatible with existing Window
programs especially the older ones. These are
advantages because a vast amount of social
media sites have a wide range of pictures with
different colours. This program also enables our
customers to not be restricted to having the
latest equipment an das a result of that our
target audience is bigger making the company
more money.

bmp does not have a compression option which
means the file would be bigger, making it harder
to send out to customers for viewing and makes
the computer slower when loading up. bmp
format is usually used on windows programs
too; which is limiting for us as a company so
The fifth file format is: gif this file format is a
raster file which means the data on the file is
pixel data. bmp stands for Graphic Interchange
Format.

gif is widely supported by internet standard.
Two positive features about this file format
would be the able to save files with lossless
compression and you are able to create
transparent logos. This programs is good for
creating animations; is also easy and quick
(navigations around the program).

Gif only supports only a 256 colour pallet
therefore detailed pictures and photo realistic
images lose colour information. This is not good
because we do not want our customers to have
dull logos, brands or advertisements from our
company. Even though this file format enables
lossless compression and transparency as a
whole this is not as good as other file formats

The sixth file format is: psd this file format is a
raster file which means the data on the file is
pixel data, this file can also be a vector; this
means due to its meticulous formation of a
picture however big a picture is stretched it will
stay in perfect quality. psd stands for
Photoshop.

This file format allows images to be saved in
layers, which is very good because if a
customer doesnt like a specific matter on a
design it is easier to remove where as if the
design was on one layer. psds can also be
imported into other Adobe softwares. In this
program you are also able to manipulate Vector
graphics too.

Due to the layers psds files end up very big
once saved. As a result of this need to be made
smaller when sharing the file; this could be time
consuming which is why this is one of the
The seventh file format is: cgm this file format is
a raster file which means the data on the file is
pixel data, this file can also be a vector; this
means due to its meticulous formation of a
picture however big a picture is stretched it will
stay in perfect quality. cgm stands for Computer
Graphics Metafile.

A big advantage of saving a file in this format is
a feature, which is called free-file format, which
means it is easily manipulated into being
opened in also any system. This file format is
also international standard, which is good for if
you had to create a worldwide logo.

Although this format is international standard
sometimes it may be hard to convert and needs
a filter to convert.

The final file format is: pdf this file format is a
raster file which means the data on the file is
pixel data, this file can also be a vector; this
means due to its meticulous formation of a
picture however big a picture is stretched it will
stay in perfect quality. pdf stands for Portable
Document Format.

A big advantage of saving a file in this format is
the same feature as the last file format; free-file
format, which means it is easily manipulated
into being opened in also any system. This file
format is also international standard, which is
good for if you had to create a worldwide logo.
This file format is also a small file and easy to
share. Nobody can edit the file, this is good for
copyright reasons.

The down-side to this would be once the image
