THOUGHTS FROM BRAD

I hope everyone enjoyed the comedy of Tim Hawkins
Friday night. That guy is hilarious! Thanks to all who
helped with assisting with our drink and popcorn
preparations.

Doesnt it feel good to laugh? Solomon wrote, There
is a time to weep, and a time to laugh; a time to
mourn, and a time to dance. I always enjoy
hearing the variety of laughter when you are in a room
with the people of God. Laughter is good for the soul,
so lets look for ways every day to enjoy this life that
we have been afforded.

Dont forget that our Wednesday night electives
are suspended this week due to our county fair. All
regularly scheduled classes will begin again on October
15
th
.

I want to take this opportunity to inform you of a great
event coming to the Greater Columbus Convention
Center. The event is called ICOM. That is an acronym
for International Conference on Missions. This
years event will be held the week of November 14
th

15
th
. This convention could be compared to the NACC
which is held each summer but the emphasis of this
convention is opening our eyes to the world of
missions. This convention will include great worship
and great speaking. If you have ever thought about the
possibility of traveling abroad to be used by God on a
short-term mission adventure, then this is for you. If
you have ever considered going into full-time missions,
then this is for you. If you want to go just to hear about
what God is doing globally, then this is for you.
Continue looking for more information about ICOM as
more details come our way. We will plan to attend on
Friday, November 14
th
as a group. If you want to
attend, begin signing up on the bulletin board in the
coat room.

I want you to pray boldly this week the following prayer
concerning our church: God, give me the
conviction and the courage to be like the heroes
of Hebrews 11. Teach me not to hold onto those
things in my church that are my personal
preferences. Show me not only how to let go, but
where to let go, so that I may heed Your
commands more closely.

In His Service,
Brad

BITS FROM BRO. DAVE

KEENAGERS I N OCTOBER: On
Thursday, October 16, we will journey
to Amish Country. There, we will visit
the David Warther Museum. David
Warther is a skilled craftsman following
in the footsteps of his very talented
father and grandfather. Davids
specialty is the carving of miniature
ships, from ancient to more modern. A
feature article, on his work, appeared in
the September 14 issue of Country
Living. After our museum tour, we
will have lunch at the Dutch Valley
Restaurant and visit our favorite cheese
shops in the afternoon. The cost, for
travel and museum admission will be
$15 per person. We will depart at 7:30
am and return in late afternoon. A sign-
up sheet is posted. Payment is due at
signup.

MI DWEEK BI BLE STUDI ES: Our
two Wednesday study groups are,
currently, involved in a study titled A
Brief Survey Of Old Testament
History. Study outlines are available.
We meet at 10:30 AM and 6:30 PM.
The same material is covered in each
session.

FUTURE EVENTS: In November, I
am encouraging all of our seniors to
participate in our churchs annual
Thanksgiving dinner, on November 16.
Our friend, Tom Shelton, will be
providing entertainment. On December
11, we are planning a special catered
lunch for our Keenagers and friends.

FI NAL THOUGHT: Although many of
us have the right aim in life, we just
never seem to get around to pulling the
trigger.

MISSION SPOTLIGHT

From your Mission Committee: Each
month we will feature a mission you
support. Just a reminder of who they
are and the good they do. This month
we are featuring ROC.

ROC stands for Reach Out on
Campus. ROC is a ministry dedicated
to serving Jesus on the campus of Ohio
University in Athens, Ohio since 1975.
As you know, this is not a Christian
college, so co-mingling with unbelievers
will present many challenges. The
campus minister claims it to be a big
deal, to be growing disciples of Jesus
and young professionals. The world
needs young people representing the
will and power of Jesus as it is
accessible to them and all who believe.
We send them $150.00 each month.

Emily: a graduate in 2014 says: ROC
has had an enormous impact on my
life. Growing up, Christian community
was not encouraged, nor necessary.
Now, I see great value in being an
active participant for my own
personal growth and to impact Gods
Kingdom.

After graduation She is struggling to
faithfully tread the path God has for her
and not miss opportunities for growth
the summer has presented.

After summer She is headed for law
school.

The Scent of Lilacs
by Ann Gabhart

After the summer of 1964, life for Jocie Brooke will
never be the same.

Life-changing events rarely happen in quiet Hollyhill,
Kentucky, and when they do, they are few and far
between. But for young Jocie Brooke and her family,
they happen all at once during the humid summer of
1964. Though on the surface things are just fine, it
seems like everyone in Jocie's life has something
they're not saying, something they're hiding from her--
and from themselves. As Jocie digs into her family's
past, she stirs up a whirlwind of discoveries. Will she
find the answers everyone so desperately needs? Or
will her questions lead to truths better left hidden?

Combining unforgettable characters, true-to-life
struggles, and the perfect dose of humor and nostalgia,
this riveting story from bestselling author Ann Gabhart
explores the very essence of new life and love.

WELCOME TO FIFTH AVENUE!
At FACC, we focus on loving God, loving
people, and turning the world upside down.

We are happy you chose to worship with us today.
We hope you return next week and bring your
friends with you. If you would please take a few
minutes to fill out a Silent Roll Call Card, located
on the back of the pew, you can then place it in
the offering plate as it is passed. Thank you. For
more information about our great church, contact
our minister, Brad Seevers at Brad@new-

Core Values...

Values central to the life, mission and
vision of Fifth Avenue Church of Christ are:

Christ-Centered Worship
We make it a priority every Sunday to celebrate Jesus through our
music. (Romans 11:36-12:1-2). We focus on Jesus through grace-
based preaching and teaching & understand the Bible is our
authority (2 Timothy 3:16).

Church Health and Biblical Balance
Church health becomes reality when God's people seek harmony &
live consistently. We expect every member to protect the unity
of Christ's Church. (Romans 12:16; 1 Peter 3:8)

Global Evangelism
We are constant to our founding call to worldwide evangelism,
proclaiming to all that Jesus Christ is the Savior, Healer, and Soon-
Coming King (Acts 20:27).

Fellowship and Ministry
After people begin their journey with Jesus, we will equip them to
find a ministry based upon their strengths. We want everyone to
serve in some capacity. (1 Corinthians 12:12-27) We also want His
church to be the living evidence of His love and power to the world.

Discipleship
We do not want you to "get religion" here at Fifth Avenue Church of
Christ in Lancaster. We are all about teaching you that Jesus seeks
a daily relationship with Him through a life of obedience. In other
words, we want to see the things you are taught actually change
your lifestyle & your daily decisions.

Social Conscience
We place high value on the sanctity of human life, of Biblical
marriage and morality, and we welcome ethnic diversity (Isaiah
56:7; Philippians 2:15-16).

OUR PURPOSE

WE EXIST TO

Exalt Gods Greatness;
Evangelize Gods Work
Equip Gods People
Express Gods Love through Jesus Christ

OUR MISSION
To Love God and Love
People!
How Can I Respond Today?
At FACC we look to the Bible for guidance on all
issues. We believe that Gods Word is clear
concerning what a person must do to become a
Christian.
Trust that Jesus can bring you to salvation.
Turn (repent) from the sin in your life.
Confess your desire to make Jesus the Lord
of your life.
Be baptized (immersed) in water for the
forgiveness of sins and to receive the Holy
Spirit into your life.
To make this life decision for Christ, we ask that you
come forward during our commitment song at the
conclusion of the Sunday message. Baptized believers
are welcome to become members at FACC by coming
forward on Sunday morning or by seeing our Senior
Minister to discuss this further. We ask that you
complete a series of Curious classes to help you
better understand what you are committing to as a
member. If you would like to take a Curious class,
please indicate this on your Silent Roll Call Card.
