Reasons to Reflect on Baptism #22. Baptism Proclaims an Inscrutable Union Between
Christ and the Believer. Paul tells us that our union with Christ is like a marriage union, the
most intimate of all relationships. This is both amazing and beyond our understanding.
FOR THIS REASON A MAN SHALL LEAVE HIS FATHER AND MOTHER AND SHALL
BE JOINED TO HIS WIFE, AND THE TWO SHALL BECOME ONE FLESH. 32 This
mystery is great; but I am speaking with reference to Christ and the church. (Ephesians
5:3132) http://gopcmodestortp.blogspot.com.
Helpful Quotes
We should not serve God by fits, as we are used to pray when the night comes, to hear
when the Sabbath comes, to fast when Lent comes, to repent when death comes; but the
service of the heart is a continual service. Henry Smith

Trust wholly in Christ; rely on his sufferings; beware of seeking to be justified in any other
way than by his righteousness. John Wycliffe

God is sovereign lord of us all. The allegiance that we owe Him is direct, as is the oath of
every Englishman to the king, not indirect through allegiance to a subordinate lord, as in
feudal France. Hence the relationship of man to God is direct, and requires no
intermediary; any claim of Church or priest to be a necessary medium must be
repelled. John Wycliffe
