Mrs. Elinesa E. Abamonga, MAT- SpEd SpEd 21- EDA

1) Describe SpEd 21 as a major subject in terms of contents, goals, and objectives and level of
significant to the SpEd educators and students in the delivery of SpEd program in the
university.
+ The description of this subject is Curriculum for children with physical disabilities with
emphasis on hearing and visual impairment. In here, we had emphasized more in HI &
VI. What are these kind of impairment, needs, how to educate, to give/make livelihood,
to communicate and etc. It is really important to learn/attain knowledge in all of these for
us to master how to handle children with VI & HI.
+ Under this subject we had discussed a lot of things already. We had enumerated the kinds
of PD, their symptoms, characteristics and kinds. With this we could already determine
such person if he/she has this kind of impairment but we are not allowed to label.
+ In delivery of SpEd program in the university this subject had served as a big impact in
our practice teaching in the SpEd Lab. It had helped to strengthen our knowledge and
most especially apply what we have learned.
2) Give and explain at least 3 types which interest you most in the conduct of class discussion
of the subject.
+ Braille Reading and Writing. I find this topic interesting, if only the assigned reporter of
this topic presented it well it must have been a lot of fun but unfortunately she is not that
well prepared. It is not easy if you read and write using Braille most especially when the
one who reads and write has a clear vision she/he definitely needs a guide of the pattern.
In writing it is fun but you should also be careful because if you commit a single mistake
you will have to go back from where you have started.
+ American Sign Language. As a future SpEd teacher it is really important to learn this
ASL. Without this, it is like youre incomplete. During the discussion on this topic we
had to memorize 1 paragraph and do the sign language. In this experience I can say that
learning sign language us not easy but it is really fun if you have learned it already.
+ Strengthening the subject areas: Arts and Craft. This is what I had reported. Arts and
craft is really applicable for everyone you just need some modifications to make. It is
good also if you will incorporate some subjects in this. Some of the children do best
when it comes to these aspects.
3) What was your participation in making this subject interesting and enjoyable? Explain.
+ My major participation in this subject is during in my report. Since my report is about
arts and craft I had given some ideas where it can be conducted and also applicable for
the children with VI and HI. Also I had shared my insights to the class.
+ I had participated in terms of joining every activity that we had.
4) Give your learning insight and reflection on knowledge and skills acquired from SpEd 21.
+ I have learned a lot on what were/are the kinds of PD, VI and HI, characteristics,
symptoms, treatment, how to handle this kind of children, what triggers their behavior,
how to communicate and educate, how to teach them livelihood skills, to strengthen this
skills.
