TITLE OF PROJECT: ASSESSMENT OF KNOWLEDGE AND ATTITUDE OF
ANTENATAL MOTHERS TOWARDS BREASTFEEDING IN TARLAC CITY
PROVINCIAL HOSPITAL

TYPE OF PROJECT:
The study will try to assess antenatal services of government hospital with respect to
information about benefits of breastfeeding practices and Assessment of knowledge and
attitude of antenatal mothers about the benefits of breastfeeding . The researcher
DURATION: Six Months
OBJECTIVES:
General Objectives:
The study aims to determine and assess the antenatal services with respect to information
about benefits of breastfeeding practices and Assessment of knowledge and attitude of
antenatal mothers about benefits of breastfeeding in the government hospital of Tarlac City.

Specific Objectives:
To examine factors which affect pattern of breast feeding such as age, occupation,
educational level, socio-economic status, and marital status.
To determine the level of knowledge & attitude of antenatal mothers on the importance of
breast feeding.
To educate mothers on the importance of breastfeeding to their infant after delivery.

Therefore, the first objective of this research is to determine if mothers in Doha, Qatar are knowledgeable and aware about the benefits of breastfeeding to their
own health, as well as to their babies. Second, is to know the reasons why some mothers in Doha, Qatar do not practice breastfeeding with their newly born
babies. Third, is to gather vital information about the attitude and perception of mothers towards breastfeeding in some womens hospitals in Doha, Qatar. A
related literature shows that in some womens hospitals in the said country; breastfeeding has been associated with socioeconomic conditions among women in
their society.

DESCRIPTION OF THE PROJECT:
Antenatal mothers attending the OB-Gyne Out Patient Department of Tarlac Provincial Hospital will be
assessed & interviewed about their knowledge & attitude regarding breastfeeding practices and to
observed the hospital services in giving information to the antenatal mothers on breastfeeding.


SIGNIFICANCE OF THE STUDY:
Findings of this study will be utilize to improve the knowledge & attitude of antenatal
mothers on the benefits & advantages of breastfeeding to both the mother & the
baby.To help in the dissemination of information among the hospital personnel in Tarlac
Provincial Hospital regarding the benefits & advantages of breastfeeding
Health workers (Nurses & Midwives )
- should educate the mothers especially the first time mothers on the importance of
breastfeeding through seminars and workshops.
Antenatal mothers
- for the antenatal mothers to provide a healthy life for her & the baby
- the antenatal mother will be able to gain knowledge on the benefits of breastfeeding
and will have a positive attitude & good practices will be adapted.
Department of Health
- To disseminate information through massive information campaign & advertisement
on the importance of breastfeeding to both the mother & the baby.
The result of the study will help nursing administrators to construct guidelines

- To set guidelines on the dissemination of information regarding breastfeeding
and implement policies religiously on the
