Theory
Junction field effect transistors a unipolar device since its function
depends upon one type of carrier
An N-channel JFET is an N-type silicon bar with a P-type
semiconductor forms the gate and the ends of the N-type bar are source and drain.
the gate is connected to a negative potential and drain is connected to a positive
potential with respect to source .
Drain dynamic resistance rd: it is defined as the ratio change in drain to source
voltage to change in drain current when gate to source voltage remains constant

Transfer characteristics

Procedure
1. The circuit is wired as shown in the circuit diagram.
2. V
GS
and V
DS
supplies are switched on, keeping the rheostat in minimum
position. fix V
GS
at 0 v.
3. Increase V
DS
in steps and note down the drain current for each values of V
DS

The drain characteristics is plotted with I
D
along y-axis and V
DS
along x axis
,for various values of V
GS
.
4. Now keep V
DS
=4.vary V
GS
and note the values of I
D
for different values of
V
GS
.
5. Plot the mutual characteristics. Calculate FET parameters using the
appropriate formulae

Result:
Circuit is made and plot the transfer and drain characteristic
