frequently caused by reckless drivers rather than faulty vehicles ( problematic transport). Last Saturday, while was travelin! from poh, witnessed a serious accident. The scene of the accidents was vivid in my mind.( fresh in my mind). vividly remember ...... " motorcyclist was followin! behind a ta#i very closely. $e was tail!atin! the ta#i.$e was so impatient that he was tryin! to overtake my ta#i even near a sharp bend. "t that critical moment, there was an oncomin! car. The ta#i driver swerved to the roadside and !ot a terrible %olt. t was too late for the motorcyclist to avoid the car. $is motorcycle ran a!ainst the bumper of the car and smashed its windscreen. The motorcyclist somersaulted over the car and was found lyin! in a pool of blood. t was a scene to chill the flesh& it sent a chill down my spine. The car driver, who was cut by the flyin! !lass, was in a state of shock. "ll that happened in split second and fear overwhelmed (overpower) us. The ta#i driver stopped his ta#i and quickly ran to the nearest telephone booth to inform the police and the hospital. 'rom a distance could see some people tryin! to help the in%ured motorcyclist and the car driver. They carried them into one of the onlooker(s car and sent them to the hospital for treatment. )eanwhile the ta#i driver tried to control and direct the traffic. Soon the police arrived and they . "fter that they moved the dama!ed car and the motorcycle to the roadside to ease the traffic con!estion. They also took down the evidence provided by witnesses and onlookers. The youn! people felt thrilled. 5ven was too very e#cited. 6ut the a!ed persons felt alarmed at the hi!h speed of the bus. They requested the driver to slow down the speed. 6ut he did not pay attention. $e kept on drivin! in his own way. n the meantime it so happened that another bus tried to overtake our bus. /ur driver took it as a challen!e far behind. +od knows why people take risk in such situations. 7one of the drivers was ready to compromise. "s a result both the buses be!an to run parallel on the road. "ll the passen!ers were very much horrified because it such was really very risky. Soon a truck came from the opposite side. The drivers of the buses mi!ht have tried to apply brakes at this %uncture. 6ut it was too late and within seconds we saw a head,on collision between the overtakin! bus and the truck. The driver of our bus also stopped. *e all rushed to the spot of accident. t was a very serious accident. )any passen!ers includin! the drivers of both the vehicles died on the spot. )any passen!ers suffered serious in%ury. They were moanin! and !roanin! in pain. There was a lady who was cryin! bitterly because the accident took the lives of her husband and son. t was really a very pathetic scene. had never seen such a heart, wrenchin! si!ht in my life. had become speechless. 6ut it was not a moment to stand and watch the scene. went to nearby booth and telephoned the police about the accident. Soon police party from .ha!wara reached the spot with a team of doctors. The in%ured were put into the ambulance van and driven to a nearby hospital. The dead were sent for postmortem. Those who had !ot minor in%uries were !iven first aid. )ost horrible was the scene of disaster. "ccidents are always dreadful because they lead to in%uries, loss of life and property. n no time a person loses everythin!. Like the lady whose beautiful dream was shattered in seconds with the death of his husband and son. feel pained whenever am reminded of the accident. The drivers must be considerate. They must follow the traffic rules to avoid such accidents.
