Frequently Asked Questions:
Is the initiative only for professionals or are part-time musicians allowed to
participate too?
All are welcome. However, musicians working with an organisation will have
to submit a no-objection certificate from their organisation along with the
other documents to CB Music.
I write lyrics in Gujarati. Can I participate?
Absolutely! Language is no bar, we are open to all languages.
I play heavy metal. Can I participate?
Yes! We are open to all genres, be it Indian classical, Western classical, pop,
reggae, Sufi, club, or hip-hop or any other genre known to humanity.
What does Participation is strictly by INVITATION ONLY mean?
Once an artiste/ band sends in the requisite submissions to CB Music, it will
be assessed on quality of music and experience. Based on these two
parameters, CB Music will send an invitation letter to the artiste/ band. Only
those artistes/bands who receive an invitation letter will be eligible to be part
of the initiative.
Will I have to travel for auditions?
No. There is no audition. Participation is strictly by invitation only.
I have only two months' experience in the field of music.
Can I participate?
Yes of course. CB Music may extend an invitation to the Artiste/Band based
on the quality of music and experience.
I play multiple instruments and also am a lyricist and music composer. Can I
participate?
Yes absolutely! We would be happy to promote each facet of your music
personality. All you have to do is video record and submit atleast one
performance for each of the categories you wish to be promoted in.
What will be the charges during registration and promotion?
It is absolutely free of cost!! There are no hidden charges involved.
How free is free?
Absolutely free for artistes forever. We know it is hard to digest that
something like this could be free. There really is no catch.
15
Why is your company promoting artistes/ bands for free?
We have been engaged in the music field for more than a decade. Over this
span, we have witnessed several client-artiste interactions.
We see a huge opportunity to bring in more fairness and transparency to the
existing industry practices and processes, thereby inducing further
professionalism to this discipline.
We truly believe that an artiste/band should be free from all cares and be
able to channelise their energiesonly towards music.
Hence, the initiative has no fees or charges and will continue to remain so.
I know that your company has been in media and entertainment arena for some
time now, but why should I or my band join the initiative?
Simply because you will tremendously benefit as a professional. As
discussed earlier, CB Music will act as a bridge to connect clients with
artistes/ bands.
Who will the CB Music initiative not benefit?
The initiative would not be beneficial for hobby artistes. It has beendesigned
for serious musicians, who are looking to connect with clients for concerts,
shows, events, and gigs.
I am a composer. How do I record my performance?
First of all, if you intend to use original content, we highly recommend that
you get the same copyrighted. CB Music will not claim responsibility for any
losses that you may incur in case the original work is not adequately protected
by the artiste/ band. For more details, refer the sub topic CATEGORIES
AND VIDEO SUBMISSION
If invited, will I have to sign an exclusive contract with CB Music that bars me from
performing independently?
No. If you are invited, we will send across a non-exclusive Agreement along
with the terms and conditions. Only if you agree to the same, will we proceed
further. The non-exclusive Agreement does not curb you from performing
with other artistes/organisations at all.
Is it necessary to hire a professional videographer/studio to record my
performance/s?
No. However, if you want to, go ahead!! Our only requirement is that the
audio / video must be of high quality. Ensure that there are no external /
background disturbances such as noise from the fan, traffic, sirens, etc. Avoid
recording in cramped spaces as far as possible. Better the audio/ video quality,
better the chances of you / your band getting hired.
16
I have received an invitation from CB Music. However, the CB Music Team
informed me that there was some issue with the video quality of the performance.
Will I have to resubmit the performance DVD?
Yes. CB Music may ask you to submit another performance video if the
audio/ video quality of the performance does not meet the common minimum
criteria. Remember, better the audio / video quality, better the chances of
getting hired.
For your reference, we have videographed a sample performance video, which
can be found by accessing the following url:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dBFQUlozRrM
(This is a common minimum quality required for any submission)
I have incurred expenses while creating the performance video (expenses towards
hiring camera/ studio/other allied costs). Will I be reimbursed?
No. We do not have a provision for reimbursements. All expenses will have to
be borne by the artiste/ band.
We are a band from Kerala. We have won many prestigious competitions both
nationally and internationally. Would we have to go through the process?
Yes.
I applied to be a part of the initiative but did not get an invitation to take
part. Will my performance video / DVD be returned to me?
No. Once submitted, the performance video/ DVD and its contents become
the property of CB Music, and will not be returned under any circumstances.
However, we assure you that the same will not be misused and or passed
on/sold to any third party.
I have already been invited by CB Music. How can I contribute towards the
initiative in my own little way?
Thank you, the thought is much appreciated. There are several things you
can do, starting with suggestions as to how we can improve and scale up.
You can help spread the word about the initiative to other fellow artistesand
encourage them to join us.
I own an event management company. How will I benefit?
To become a partner, email your details to artist@cbmusic.in
Who are some of the clients and artistes that CB Music is working with?
